It’s All Hindsight

Small businesses represent more than 99.7% of all U.S. businesses, generating about half of the U.S.GDP. Two of every three jobs is created by small businesses. United States’ small businesses employ 58.9 million people, which is 47.5% of the private workforce.

Yet, 41% of small businesses say a lack of capital is hurting their ability to grow. The cost of healthcare, tax compliance, and cash flow are a few of the considerable challenges causing small businesses—especially those that are women- and minority-owned—to struggle.

The idea for Kinetic Capital was sparked in 2016, when I was confronting what looked to be insurmountable challenges only a year after purchasing HMC Inc. from my father.

The root cause of the challenges sprouted from the lack of fiduciary responsibility displayed by some who worked closely with my company. The struggle that resulted led me to experience directly the barriers and challenges facing the small business community in the United States. Most glaringly, I became increasingly aware of the widening gap that exists between capital and small business.
