That project you're planning may require a permit—even if it doesn't seem that major.

For example, Metro Nashville says permits can be required for things like:
🏠 Removing a wall — even a non-load-bearing one
🪟 Changing the size or style of a window
🏊 Adding a pool
🪜 Remodeling stairs
🏡 Replacing more than 1/3 of a roof

Meanwhile, things like wallpapering and replacing a dishwasher generally don't require a building permit.

The takeaway?
Don't assume. Check first.
It's considerably less exciting than choosing countertops…but pretty important. 😂
