That’s how long the Scherer family has been missing Cheryl. The 19-year-old vanished in broad daylight on April 17, 1979, from her place of work in Scott City, Missouri. Her family has been on a mission to find her ever since. “We grew up on a rural farm, it was just quiet out there,” Diane Scherer-Morris told Dateline.
