Top 5 Things to Look for Before Hiring a Bookkeeper
Not all bookkeepers are the same.

Some maintain records. Others prevent disasters.

Here's what actually matters when you're hiring:

1)They ask about your business before quoting a price.
If they quote without understanding your transaction volume, complexity, or industry, they're guessing. Good bookkeepers price based on your actual needs, not generic packages.

2) They explain what they'll deliver, not just what they'll do.
"I'll categorize transactions" is a task. "You'll have reconciled accounts and accurate reports by the tenth of each month" is a deliverable. Know the difference.

3) They talk about catching errors, not just recording data.
Anyone can enter transactions. You need someone who notices when something's wrong and investigates before it compounds.

4) They're clear about what they don't do.
Bookkeepers who promise everything usually deliver mediocrity. The best ones are honest about their scope and refer you to specialists when needed.
