At Altitude Insurance Advisors, I talk to families every day about the importance of planning ahead. Life insurance isn't just a policy; it’s a promise to the people who matter most.

If you’re wondering why it’s time to secure coverage, here are the three big ones:

1. Protect your family: Your income is the foundation of your household’s stability. Life insurance ensures that even if you aren't there, your family can keep their home, cover daily living costs, and maintain their quality of life.

2. Pay for final expenses: Nobody likes to think about end-of-life costs, but they add up quickly. A policy provides the liquid cash needed to handle funeral arrangements and outstanding debts, so your loved ones aren't left with that burden during an already difficult time.

3. Create a legacy: Insurance is a powerful tool to help you leave a mark. Whether it’s funding a child’s education, supporting a favorite charity, or ensuring your spouse has a comfortable retirement, it allows you to pass on your values and provide for the future long after you’re gone.

Don't wait for "the right time"—the right time is when you're healthy and planning for the future. Let’s chat about what coverage makes sense for your specific goals.

Hey everyone, Ty Rudisaile here from Main Street Independent Insurance Agency.

A common question I get is, "Is my stuff covered if it's in a storage unit?" The good news is that many standard renters and homeowners policies do extend coverage to your personal property stored off-site.

However, there are often specific limits and conditions you need to be aware of. Don't leave your belongings to chance—reach out to us at Main Street Independent and let’s review your policy together to make sure you're fully protected.

At Main Street Independent Insurance Agency, we often get asked, "What’s the difference between an 'admitted' and a 'non-admitted' carrier?" It’s a great question, and it really comes down to how they interact with state regulations.

An admitted carrier is licensed by your state’s insurance department. They file their rates and policy forms with the state, and, importantly, they are backed by the state’s guaranty fund. This means if the company were to become insolvent, the state steps in to help cover your claims. It’s the standard, regulated path for most common insurance needs.

A non-admitted carrier (often called a "surplus lines" carrier) isn't licensed by the state in the same way. However, they are still approved to do business. They don't file their rates or forms with the state, which gives them the flexibility to insure unique, complex, or higher-risk properties that admitted carriers might not be able to cover. While they don't participate in the state guaranty fund, we only work with those that meet high financial stability standards.

As your independent agent, my job is to navigate these options for you. Whether you need the standard protection of an admitted carrier or the specialized coverage of a non-admitted one, we’re here to make sure you’re properly protected.

Have questions about your specific policy? Give us a call at Main Street Independent Insurance Agency—we’re happy to help.

🏡🔍 Understanding Your Home Insurance Policy Exclusions 🔍🏡

As your trusted partner at Main Street Independent Insurance Agency, I want to emphasize the critical importance of knowing your home insurance policy exclusions. While having coverage is essential, understanding what isn't covered can save you from unexpected financial burdens.

Exclusions often include natural disasters, certain types of water damage, or even specific liability claims. By knowing these exclusions, you can take proactive steps to mitigate risks, consider additional coverage options, and ensure you're fully protected.

Home insurance policies typically have several common exclusions that homeowners should be aware of. Here are some of the most common ones:
1. Flood Damage: Most standard home insurance policies do not cover damages caused by flooding. Homeowners in flood-prone areas often need separate flood insurance.
2. Earthquake Damage: Similar to flood coverage, earthquake damage is usually excluded and requires a separate policy or endorsement.
3. Maintenance Issues: Damage resulting from lack of maintenance, wear and tear, or general neglect is generally not covered.
4. Pest Infestations: Damage caused by pests, such as termites or rodents, is often excluded from coverage.
5. Mold and Fungi: Many policies limit or exclude coverage for mold damage unless specific conditions are met.
6. Sewer Backup: Damage caused by sewer backups is typically not covered unless you add specific coverage for this risk.
7. Intentional Damage: Any damage that you cause intentionally is not covered under your policy.
8. Business Activities: If you run a business from your home, any damages related to business activities may not be covered.
9. Negligence: If damage is a result of negligence, such as leaving a door unlocked or failing to secure your property, coverage may be denied.
10. Certain Personal Property: High-value items like jewelry, art, or collectibles may have limited coverage unless additional endorsements are purchased.

It's essential to read your policy carefully and discuss any concerns with your insurance agent to ensure you understand what is and isn't covered.

Don't wait until it's too late! Take the time to review your policy and reach out to us with any questions. We're here to help you navigate the complexities of home insurance. Let's make sure your home is truly covered! 🏠✨

🌟 Understanding ACV vs. RCV in Personal Property Claims 🌟

Hey everyone, it’s Ty Rudisaile here from Main Street Independent Insurance Agency! Today, let’s break down a couple of important terms that often come up in personal property claims: Actual Cash Value (ACV) and Replacement Cost Value (RCV).

🔍 Actual Cash Value (ACV) is essentially the market value of your item at the time of loss, taking depreciation into account. This means if you had a five-year-old TV, the payout would reflect its current value, not what you originally paid for it.

🏠 On the other hand, Replacement Cost Value (RCV) covers the cost to replace your item with a new one of similar kind and quality, without considering depreciation. So, if that same five-year-old TV is damaged, you'd receive enough to buy a brand-new one.

In short, ACV gives you the depreciated value, while RCV ensures you're made whole with a new replacement. Always review your policy to understand which option applies, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Stay safe and informed! 🛡️✨
