I'm a former real estate broker who ended up in insurance because my house burned down.
In a single day, I lost every childhood keepsake, every important document, and just about everything I owned.
That was 2,700 days ago today.
Like most losses in life, you never completely get over it. You just learn to live with it. The experience changed how I look at insurance, though. I spend my days reviewing policies instead of showing homes and I can honestly say the coverage we had made a difficult situation much more manageable.
The pictures are still difficult to look at sometimes. It's amazing how much we take for granted until it's gone

My oldest turned 25 today and I am sitting here like, where did the time go? Watching him grow into who he is now has been one of the best parts of my life. 25 hits different. I'm excited that he's following in my footsteps and leaning into the insurance industry. There's so many moment that I reflect back on that make me so proud, but the proudest moment of all is being your mom. Happy Birthday, Rian!
