Are you wanting to increase the enterprise value of your business❓
In that case, it’d be helpful to consider what investors are looking for.
For example, take some of the key factors the great Warren Buffett uses to evaluate potential investments. 💭
1️⃣ He looks for businesses with great long-term, rather than short-term, prospects.📆 Keep the end in mind with a strategic view for every decision at every level.
2️⃣ He invests in businesses he understands.📌 Keep it simple.
3️⃣ When looking over financial statements, he places the greatest emphasis on owner earnings, aka free cash flow, which measures a company’s ability to generate cash flow over a period of time. Cash is king.👑
Simple guidelines? For sure. Powerful wisdom from the GOAT? Definitely.💪

This quote is 🔥. We live in a culture that always seeks to learn from the best, but oftentimes it just pays to be different.
Differences can include your brand, your operations, your culture, etc., but the key to long-term success is that you have a distinct differentiator from your competition.🔑
⚡️ At Atmos Planning, one of our differences from other companies is combining in-depth, technical business advice with how that translates to building personal wealth and maximizing impact into one trusted partnership, something we found woefully lacking when talking with business owners way back when.
Other differentiators ⬇️
📍 Our business model: no insurance sales or asset management
📍 Our team: we’re the kind of folks you want to get a beer with.
But that’s enough about us, what differentiates you from your competition?

⭐️ In this conversation, he shares his passion for strategically educating and empowering visionaries, how Atmos Planning is different, and even his favorite places to dine in Colorado Springs.
Check the article out below!⬇️

We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Fehlen and we've shared our conversation below. Hi Robert, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business? Once I got clear on who I wanted to serve (visionary business owners and real estate investors), the thought process

Want to grow and scale your business FAST?

What if we told you there was a secret sauce to achieve rapid growth? And what if that sauce had only 3️⃣ ingredients?
Your 3 ingredients ⬇️
💪Leaders: yes, as the business owner we know you think you can do everything, but to scale you need other leaders, and these leaders also need to be able to delegate.
🔗Infrastructure: you need systems and processes to handle ambiguity and make complex decisions quickly across a growing staff and team.
🗯Marketing: it’s critical to attract new customers, but you also need to be attracting talent to join you (and leave your competitors) and feed into point 1️⃣
This is an AND situation, not an OR. You need all 3 ingredients to scale quickly. No putting off one for down the road.
After all, you can’t make a PB&J without peanut butter.🥜
Keep building.

When you think about profit, most people think it’s what’s left over after paying expenses.
Not so fast. 🏃‍♂️
There are 3️⃣ types of profit to be aware of, and each tells you something different about your business.
🔴Gross Profit: this tells you the basic profitability of your business, and is simply your revenue – cost of goods sold. This is important because your gross profit is what you use to pay taxes and operating expenses like rent, marketing, salaries, etc.
🔴Operating Profit: ever heard of EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes)? That’s Operating Profit, and it’s your Gross Profit (above) – operating expenses. This is the money you earn from the operations of the business itself, and indicates how well the business is being managed.
🔴Net Profit: also known as the "bottom line,” it’s what is left over after everything is subtracted from revenue. It's a key figure, perhaps the key figure, in how your business is running.⭐️
Keep building.

Want to know the ways to get more cash in your business? 💰
“Sell more stuff”
True that, but there are 6 other ways too…
There are 7️⃣ levers available to bring in more cash💲
1️⃣Price – simply increase the prices of your products/services

2️⃣Volume – sell more!

3️⃣COGS – reduce what you pay for your labor/materials/etc.

4️⃣Operating Expenses – reduce operating costs (rent, marketing, overhead, etc.)

5️⃣Accounts Receivable – if you are owed money, you can collect that money sooner

6️⃣Inventory – if you hold inventory, you can reduce what you keep on hand

7️⃣Accounts Payable – if you owe money, negotiate to slow down your payments
Which levers are you pulling?📍

Lets face it. Business can be hard.
There’s a tendency to think complex, hard problems require complex solutions.
Take it from Einstein. Simple is better.
That’s why we stick to a simple one pager for where our clients want to go personally and professionally over the next 1, 3, and 5 years.
Tax planning jargon and mumbo jumbo….no thanks, just basic English.
As you look through your business and your life, treat complex subjects with respect, but as the saying goes…KISS. 😉

There is a dirty little secret out there about profit…🤫
Most people think profit is cold hard cash.💰
Not exactly.
🗓 Income statements show a company’s profit over a certain time (a month, quarter, or year). It’s a BEST EFFORT at what sales the company generated, the costs incurred to make those sales (including operating costs), and what’s left over.

Depending on your industry and accounting method, money may not have even changed hands before it’s counted as sales/revenue.💲
The costs incurred to sell a product/service are also full of estimates. What equipment was depreciated in that period? Did you buy a lot of products you’re now trying to sell?
If your business sells teddy bears, maybe you don’t record the cost of buying all teddy bears in bulk up front. Instead, you record the cost of each teddy bear when a teddy bear is sold.🐻
Another example...if you own a truck and depreciate it over 3️⃣ years, but it is functional for 6️⃣ years, the estimates you’ve used were wrong and the expenses (and profit) you read originally are actually different.
⭐️ In a perfect world, net profit translates directly to cash in the bank. Just know that profit and cash aren’t the same thing.⭐️

We just created a plan to save a client $175K this year...and if things go as expected, those savings will jump to almost $500K next year. 😳

Needless to say, we were pretty pumped when we saw the final numbers. 👏🏻

The crazy thing is, there was nothing groundbreaking in our approach. In fact, the core strategies we suggested were initial ideas we’d bounced around from the get-go.

That’s the power of tax planning. Sometimes just understanding the magnitude of one or two of the MANY options out there can yield BIG results. 📈

It’s a work in progress, but we may also help the client re-file 2020 using the same ideas and get a $25K refund check in their mailbox too. 💰

Who says taxes have to be boring?!
