Some gusty winds may be occurring with this storm in the Mendon area. This storm is tracking to the east towards Union City, Colon, and Matteson.

Batten down the hatches, folks! We aren't in the direct line, but we could see some severe weather. Remember, report damage as soon as you can! We are here to help.

**Significant severe weather possible today**

OVERVIEW:
Today is shaping up to potentially be one of Michigan’s busiest severe weather days. We have a slight risk in effect from the SPC with the mention of an enhanced upgrade possible. Within the slight risk, a 15% hatched area is designated for significant winds over 75mph being possible. The atmosphere today is JUICED and wind shear is favorable for not only straight line winds, but also tornadoes and large hail. We urge everyone in the risk area to start preparing now. Have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings. Today has potential to be a dangerous severe weather day here in the state of Michigan.

EVOLUTION:
We expect storms to fire around the Grand Rapids area by early evening. These storms will congeal into a linear complex and race east southeast towards southeast Michigan. Given the strong wind shear, extreme instability, and sculpted hodographs, we expect this line to become a very potent QLCS squall line with intense winds, hail, and spin up tornadoes as it races across the state.

HAZARDS:
•75mph or higher wind gusts
•Large hail over 1”
•Tornadoes
•Flash Flooding

TIMING:
6pm-12am

Earlier in the west, later in the east.

FAIL MODE:
There is a cap in place today, but not as strong as yesterday. Storms should not have any trouble breaking that cap, but if any capping exists that is stronger than modeled, storms will still fire up, but they may not be as strong as they could be.
