Why do some employers offer benefits without paying anything out of pocket?

Because there are actually options to do that, and for some businesses, it’s the right starting point.

There are benefit structures where employees can elect and pay for their own coverage, whether that’s medical alternatives, voluntary benefits, or ancillary options. It allows employers to offer something instead of nothing, especially if budget is tight or the company is still growing.

Why would you switch insurance brokers in the middle of the year?

Because you can, and most people don’t realize that.

You are not locked into your broker until renewal. You can switch at any point during the year without changing your plans or your rates. The only thing that changes is the level of service you’re getting.

A lot of employers come to us frustrated because their broker disappears after open enrollment, takes forever to respond, or never really explains what’s going on with their benefits. That’s usually when we step in.

We take over as broker of record, clean things up, and actually support you throughout the year instead of just during renewal season.
