Heads up!!

PNW SEVERE RISK THURSDAY! Several severe storms are possible Thursday afternoon across parts of the Pacific Northwest, Interior Northwest and northern U.S. Rockies - this includes parts of Washington and Oregon, western Montana and northern Idaho. A storm system will be spinning over California sending disturbances into the region, helping storms develop during the afternoon and evening hours. Confidence is increasing that enough instability and shear will be present for stronger storms. The main risks with the strongest storms are very large hail and damaging wind gusts. In this type of setup, an isolated landspout tornado can’t be ruled out. Landspouts can develop when strong storms interact with localized zones of spin near the ground, especially along boundaries created by terrain. While typically weaker than classic supercell tornadoes, landspouts can still produce damage. A localized flood risk will also develop, especially near recent burn scars. The SPC does have a low-end severe risk for the region during this timeframe. There’s also a severe risk this afternoon across the region⛈️
