Did you receive letter 6419? Does the letter have a different payment amount than what you actually received?

There are a few extra steps you need to take in order to file a correct tax return. Don't cause delays in your refund and make an appointment to have your taxes done right.

FAQ: I received the advance child tax credits in 2021, but the letter from the IRS (6419) showing the amount paid does not match what I actually received.

Answer: If you find yourself with a mismatch, then wait on filing your tax return. Contact me and I will provide the best solution for your individual case.

Note: If the wrong credit amount is entered on your tax return then you may find yourself waiting for 12+ months for your refund as was the case in 2020.

Tax Tip: Check your mail, Letter 6419 has arrived or will be arriving soon. This is what you will need to reconcile your advanced child tax credit payments. In case you do not receive the letter, then the next best thing is to create an IRS account where you will have access to the information. DO NOT file your tax return without this information, as it is VERY likely your return will be delayed if you do not report accurate information.
