Sometimes the most meaningful part of this job has nothing to do with insurance policies—it’s about people.
Earlier this year, one of my longtime clients, Mrs. Marlene Herring who is 92 years old, experienced the unimaginable when a fire destroyed both her home and her vehicle. While I wasn’t able to be there in person that day because I was out of town, I was grateful to work alongside our claims team to help ensure she received prompt support during such a difficult time.
Over the months that followed, I had the privilege of helping Mrs. Marlene with insurance for her new rental home and, later, her new vehicle. Through every conversation, she has shown incredible strength, grace, and resilience.
One day she mentioned how much she loves fresh vegetables, especially sweet corn. I told her that when corn was in season, I’d bring her some so we could share lunch together. Her response was, “You clean it, I’ll cook it, and it’s a date.”
Today, we finally kept that promise.
Moments like these remind me why I love what I do. Building relationships, being there during life’s hardest moments, and celebrating the good days together are what make this career so rewarding.
