🏈 MUSTANG PLAYER OF THE WEEK 🏈

Candies Creek Farm Bureau Insurance is proud to recognize Mustang quarterback #5 Sawyer Ray as our Week 2 Player of the Week!

Sawyer led the Mustangs in an always-exciting crosstown matchup against the Bradley Bears Friday night. He completed 15 of 25 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns while adding 86 yards on 11 carries.

His performance was highlighted by a 66-yard pitch-and-catch for the go-ahead touchdown, giving Walker Valley a 28–24 lead. In a tough, back-and-forth game, Sawyer and the Mustangs found a way to pull out an exciting win!

Candies Creek Farm Bureau Insurance congratulates Sawyer, the Mustang coaches, band, cheerleaders and all the Mustang fans on a great Week 2 victory!

This Friday, the Mustangs open region play on the road against an always-tough McMinn County opponent.

🏈 Mustang football is back!

We were excited to kick off another high school football season as the Walker Valley Mustangs opened Week 1 against the crosstown rival Cleveland Blue Raiders.

It was a hard-fought game that included several weather delays, and although the Mustangs came up short, there was no shortage of effort on the field.

Our Week 1 Candies Creek Farm Bureau Insurance Mustang Player of the Week is #9, defensive back CT Gunter! CT had a huge night for the Mustang defense, recording an impressive 15 solo tackles and 4 assists.

Congratulations, CT, on an outstanding performance! We’re proud to recognize the hard work and determination of Walker Valley’s student-athletes throughout the 2026 season.

It was also great seeing the Mustang Band Walker Valley High School and Walker Valley Football Cheerleaders bringing the energy, along with the Mix 104.1 WCLE ESPN Cleveland and MIX TV crews covering this exciting crosstown rivalry.
