I am proud to announce Mr. Leon Bibb as the 2026 Christian Business League Trailblazer. Leon is a popular newscaster in Cleveland with five decades of experience. He continues to work as a senior correspondent, commentator and television show host and he's won television’s coveted Emmy award ten times and has been recognized many times by civic organizations and professional journalism groups for his long and distinguished career.

He is a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam war where he was awarded the Army’s Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service in combat.

I am asking our CBL friends to pass this information on as we recognize one of Cleveland’s greats who has been an outstanding representative for our city. Tickets are limited so reserve your spot soon.

The League is going into its 23rd year and we'll be hosting several events this year. I've been involved since its inception when we held our first event at Mt. Zion Congregational Church, UCC, March 2003 with Andre Thornton as our guest speaker. CBL started as the brainchild of Rev. Paul Hobson Sadler, Sr and passed the idea on to my late husband, Mike Shinn. Mike took the idea and created this great ministry for Mt. Zion where we have for 22 years helped small minority businesses and brought them together by encouraging them to do business with each other and we've also introduced them to organizations who could mentor and provide them with financial support. Rev. Sadler and I have co-chaired the organization for over a decade and while I'll continue to be involved, new leadership is coming on board to continue the legacy started by Mike. As we celebrate Black History Month, this article taken from our archives features Rev. Marvin McMickle as our second guest speaker, June 2003. It was nostalgic to remember the great speakers we've had come through our doors and it's a roadmap for the new leadership to use as a guide to continue bringing in notable people so we can continue to help small minority businesses in Cleveland.

The CBL held the Faith and Finance Luncheon on Friday, December 5, 2025. The guest speaker was the amazing Dr. Willie Jolley, speaker, singer, best-selling author and popular media personality.
Dr. Jolly was expected to be at the event in person but due to a snowstorm in DC, his flight was cancelled, and we heard from him virtually. It was announced that he would be the preacher on Sunday and everyone was invited to attend.
We were happy to hear from four small business owners who gave a profile on their businesses, Erin Dorsey Robinson, The Boardwalk Group; Natalie Whitlow, Our Village-A Service Organization, LLC; Robin Sadler, Robin Sadler Collective, LLC; Grady Burrows, Mosaic Tech Movement. Also, five business owners who were selected to receive a grant from CBL were introduced, Sonyette Farrier, The Shoe Lady, Anita Mays, Anita's Sweet Treats in addition to Erin Dorsey Robinson, Natalie Whitlow and Robin Sadler. Del's Catering was the caterer and the food was fantastic.

The CBL 10th Mike Shinn Memorial Golf Outing at Highland Park Golf Course, September 13, 2025, was a great success. Ninety golfers registered and ten dedicated volunteers gave a helping hand. The honoree was Michael Taylor, retired PNC Bank executive and longtime supporter of CBL. Michael expressed his appreciation for being selected and his remarks were heartfelt as he talked about his admiration for Mike and how special it is to receive this recognition because of who it represents. The day was perfect and feedback from participating golfers was positive. They enjoyed the day, the competition and the food and all indications are that they will be back next year to support the 11th year!
