Last week we had someone walk into our office looking for individual coverage who told us they’ve been uninsured since Aetna exited the individual marketplace at the end of 2025, because they didn’t know what to do.
That’s not an isolated story. There’s a lot changing in the ACA market heading into 2027.
Six carriers have confirmed they’re pulling out of Marketplace coverage in at least some states, including Cigna, which is leaving the individual market entirely across all 11 states it’s in. Florida is one of them!
The bigger point: The average person isn’t going to know what’s happening with carriers and they need a trusted partner who does. That’s the gap we’re trying to close before it happens again.
At JTM Carey Insurance & Financial Group we’re already going through the book, flagging who’s affected, and getting our team ready for the conversations that need to happen before Open Enrollment.
Same goes for our partners…..financial advisors, CPAs, payroll folks, P&C agents, anyone with clients relying on individual coverage. You don’t need to know ACA rules inside and out. You just need someone paying attention who can step in when a client has a question.
There’s going to be no shortage of headlines the next few months. We’re keeping it simple: know what’s changing, say something before people have to ask, and help them make a real decision instead of a rushed one
