This just in from the FL Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles:
Dear Dealers,
Thank you for your patience and understanding while the Department continues to make changes affecting services while following recommendations by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Department is reopening our Regional Office lobbies and will begin providing services by appointment only (for all services) and observing CDC safety guidelines, beginning Monday, May 18, 2020.
Customers are required to make an appointment by telephone call or email to the appropriate Regional Office (see attached). Customers without a scheduled appointment will not be permitted to gain access into the Offices. While it is the Department’s intention to provide the best customer services as possible, please be advised that services will be slower than usual as we transition to our new business “norm. “
Regional Offices will continue to process documents and items received through the mail. Each Regional Office will also have a “drop box” outside of their facility for customers who have not scheduled an appointment and choose to leave their documentation placed in an envelope (checked daily).
To ensure safety, customers with scheduled appointments will need to successfully complete a questionnaire regarding COVID symptoms provided by the staff of the Regional Office prior to entry into the Office. Customers who are unable to successfully complete the questionnaire can leave their documents in the above mentioned “drop box.”
All customers:
Are required to wear a mask upon entering;
Will be asked to use hand sanitizer;
Follow any guidance provided by a designated staff member at the entrance of the Regional Office;
Follow markings of where 6 ft social distancing requirements are placed;
Must be seated in the designated limited seating inside of facility;
Please be advised that all Regional Office staff will be wearing masks, face shields, and strictly adhering to surface cleaning.
Customers with scheduled vehicle inspections will also be asked by the Compliance Examiner seeking approval to use surface cleaning inside the vehicle before entering. Customers must agree or the vehicle inspection will not be provided.
The Department looks forward to resuming services to you and the community again! We thank you for your continued cooperation during this challenging period.
Sincerely,
Bureau of Dealer Services
