Setting goals is essential whether you're attempting to improve your parenting skills, acquire a degree, expand your business, or lose weight. Sadly, a lot of people make the error of failing to establish goals for retirement planning.

If you don't have a target in mind, it's difficult to pursue something for 30 or 40 years. It is far more obvious to want to accumulate $2.5 million by the time you are 65. Even if you may not succeed, the fact that you have a goal increases the likelihood of success.

You may create proactive objectives and make wiser decisions now and in the future by taking stock of your financial condition and determining where you want to be when you retire.

Life insurance can be a great financial safety net, but itโ€™s also something you may be making payments on for many years. Itโ€™s therefore important to find the most beneficial policy for the most affordable cost. After all, it negates the whole point of getting insurance in the first place if it lapses because you canโ€™t pay for life insurance cost.

There are numerous life insurance companies, term lengths, and coverage amounts to select from. Price will, of course, play a role in your decision and may influence the kind of policy you pick. Itโ€™s best to work with an independent agent to get life insurance at the most competitive prices.

There are two basic types of life insurance:

Term life insurance: Term life insurance is the more affordable of the two options. It provides coverage for a predetermined period without accruing cash value. Just to give you a rough idea, if youโ€™re a woman in your 40s who doesnโ€™t smoke, you may on average expect to pay $83 per month for a $1 million policy on a 20-year term life insurance policy. The same policy will cost approximately $20 extra each month if youโ€™re a man.

Whole or universal life insurance: Whole life insurance, on the other hand, lasts a lifetime, and includes a cash value component that enables you to borrow against your policy or withdraw money in the future. Permanent policies likely cost more than term life insurance because of the cash value and the potential for a longer coverage duration

Amount of coverage
The amount of coverage refers to the face value of your policy. An insurance policy for $1 million will cost more than one for $250,000 or $500,000.

Term Length
If you choose term life, the longer the term (30 years as opposed to 20, for instance), the higher the premium will be.

Your health, demographics and Lifestyle
Age: The cost of premiums increases by an average of 4.5% to 9% each year you delay buying a life insurance policy.

Gender: Due to their longer life expectancies, women typically pay less for life insurance than men.

Health: Your rates are significantly impacted by your health. In general, your rates will be lower the healthier you are.

Hobbies and lifestyle: If you smoke or participate in risky hobbies like skydiving or rock climbing, your insurance rates will increase.

Life Insurance Policies and Transgender Applicants
There is currently no set policy regarding transgender applicants in the life insurance sector. Although it is up to the underwriter to decide, insurers usually issue coverage based on your current gender rather than the one you were assigned at birth. Your rates wonโ€™t change as a result of transgender change surgery. Itโ€™s against the law for insurance companies to discriminate against transgender people.

Florida life insurance laws are regulated by Title 37 of the Florida Statutes.

Insurance companies in Florida are also required to have anti-fraud departments.

If youโ€™re purchasing life insurance in Florida, here are some things you need to know:

Florida law requires insurance carriers to find and notify any of the beneficiaries within 120 days of acknowledging the death of the insured. If they arenโ€™t able to locate any of the beneficiaries, then the proceeds go to the Florida state government until the required beneficiary is found.

A 10-day โ€œfree-lookโ€ period is provided by most life insurance companies in Florida. This gives the potential policyholder time to cancel their coverage/get a refund of the premiums paid.

A 30-day payment grace period for a policyholder in Florida ensures that the insurance company does not cancel the policy during that time frame.

If the death benefits arenโ€™t paid by the company to the beneficiary within 30 days, then the amount goes to accrued interest from the date of death.

As an insured, your beneficiaries can claim death benefits, even if the insurance company goes bankrupt. This is backed up by the Florida Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association.

There will be guarantees of up to $300,000 for death benefits that are lost, and $100,000 for lost cash surrender value under the Florida Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association.

Ideally, we would recommend both spouses get a separate life insurance policy.

Going separate, for one, ensures each policy is tailored to each spouse and their financial situation, not just now but also in the future. For instance, if you and your spouse decide to buy a house and get a mortgage together, one of you might take on the mortgage payments while the other covers the expenses of managing your household. You may also choose different life insurance policies that reflect your respective incomes to maintain the same standard of living for your significant other.

The insurable interest defined earlier is a prerequisite for a type of life insurance known as โ€œjoint life insurance.โ€ Such policies can be โ€œfirst to die,โ€ i.e. pay out to the beneficiary when the first spouse dies, or โ€œsecond to die,โ€ i.e. pay out when both insured parties die.

The former can be practical because it involves just one policy that ensures a payout for the other party regardless of circumstances. โ€œSecond to dieโ€ policies typically donโ€™t involve spouses as beneficiaries, but instead protect extended family members like grandchildren. Most people wonโ€™t benefit much from joint life insurance, unless one spouse cannot be insured due to a health conditionโ€”in which case the policy is calculated based on the healthy spouse.

f youโ€™re like most American adults, chances are high that youโ€™ve heard of life insurance and know that itโ€™s something you need.

But what is it exactly, and how does life insurance work?

Life insurance is a way for you to leave money to people you care about in the event of your death.

At its basic level, itโ€™s an agreement between you and a life insurance company. You agree to pay them and in turn, they provide you with insurance coverage. You can think of it like a subscription service: as long as you pay premiums, youโ€™ll be covered.

๐—•๐˜‚๐˜† ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚โ€™r๐—ฒ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ด!People think theyโ€™re locking themselves in when getting life insurance. In fact, i...

People think theyโ€™re locking themselves in when getting life insurance. In fact, itโ€™s quite the opposite: the insurance company is the one committing to a set price to the customer for years to come. Take advantage of that fact and buy life insurance while youโ€™re young, as waiting will almost always end up being more expensive.

Plus thereโ€™s no guarantee youโ€™ll be eligible to get a policy later, too. Youโ€™re not only locking in a good price, but your good health as well.

Itโ€™s a term life policy you can buy through your employer. Many workplaces offer group life insurance, but since the benefit amount is typically too low to cover dependents who rely on you (usually a max of 1-2x your annual income), some employers give workers the opportunity to buy an extra policy to supplement it.

Compare the price of a supplemental term life policy with what youโ€™d pay by getting term life on your own. Even if itโ€™s cheaper for the same amount of coverage and same length of term, thereโ€™s a risk to keeping life insurance connected to your workplace. If you move on from that employer in the future, you may have to buy a new policy at a later age, potentially making it more costly or even unavailable if your health has changed.
