Small Business Owners: The 2026 Deadlines You Don’t Want to Miss
https://www.shfinancialadvisors.com/tax_calendar.cfm
The end of the year will be here before you know it. For small business owners, the next few months are filled with important tax, retirement plan, employee benefit and healthcare decisions.
Here are some dates worth putting on your calendar:
September 15 – Third-quarter estimated tax payments are due. This is also an important deadline for many extended business tax returns, including partnerships and S corporations.
October 1 – A key deadline for businesses considering establishing a new SIMPLE IRA for 2026.
October 15 – Extended individual and certain business tax returns are generally due. Remember, a tax extension gives you more time to file—not more time to pay.
October–November – A good time to review your employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, life, disability and retirement plans, before heading into 2027.
Before year-end – Review retirement plan contributions, potential tax-saving strategies, employee benefit changes and your overall financial plan before December 31.
The biggest mistake is waiting until December to start thinking about these things.
At Safe Harbor Financial Advisors, we help small business owners coordinate their retirement plans, employee benefits, insurance and financial strategies so they can make informed decisions before important deadlines arrive.
