‘Tis the holiday season. With a tough economy, I want to remind payroll administrators to please plan ahead. Your employees are likely dependent on their paychecks for holiday celebrations like Thanksgiving. I would hope many companies are still able to provide free turkeys, hams or the like but even if not, please dont’t leave your employees out in the cold. They still have typical bills like rent, utility bills and car notes during the holidays. Please allow their paychecks to get to them prior to the holiday. It simply takes the time to plan ahead. Mark your calendar. They are there for you to help grow your business; be there for them to provide adequate food and gifts on time to their families. God bless. 🙏

To all the QBO Navigators out there, here is my Tip of the Day. If you should find yourself in need of merging duplicate accounts in the Chart of Accounts (for instance, duplicate bank accounts), be sure to unreconcile both accounts before merging. If you do not, you will have the task of removing Hard Rs from your ledger which can be time consuming. Save yourself the time and stress by undoing those recs BEFORE merging! 😊

Not only am I an accountant, I also have over 20 years of experience in online selling. I started with EBay and switched to Etsy probably ten years ago. So much has changed in that time. If you notice your bank account receiving transfers less and also in smaller amounts, you may be wondering what is happening. It could be due to Etsy’s Offsite Ads. That is what is happening to my store currently. In addition to paying for Etsy ads within the platform, I’m also being charged for ads outside of the platform. As well, there are transaction fees and I offer so called “free shipping” as Etsy steered all of its sellers in that direction a few years ago. They claimed your listings would not get the best traffic if you did not conform. I kept it this way to avoid all of the listing changes I would have to make. Bottom line, Etsy is changing. Check out the attached information to see if your store is affected. Can you opt out? I cannot. However, I have been exploring other options for online sales and feel it may be high time to pivot.
