Community and family are truly the foundation of my small business. ❤️

Yesterday was one of those days that reminded me exactly why I love where we live and what I get to do.

The day started with a 4-H'er stopping into the office to thank me for purchasing his hog at the fair auction. 🐷💚 From there, I headed out on a farm pre-inspection and later had a Clarinda resident stop in looking for home and auto insurance after learning their current homeowner's carrier was leaving the state of Iowa altogether.

That conversation was another reminder of something I'm very proud of—Farm Bureau Financial Services has deep Iowa roots. Our story started right here in Iowa, and our corporate office remains in West Des Moines today. There is something pretty special about representing a company that understands the communities, farms, families, and people we serve. ❤️

Then last night, I was able to attend the Page County Farm Bureau Membership Appreciation Dinner with some of my family. Naturally, I didn't get a picture with them 😂 but I DID get one with some of the best FFA gals around! 💙💛

It was a great evening with a wonderful meal, good conversation, and a really informative speaker from Iowa Farm Bureau discussing some pretty big issues affecting rural Iowa—landowner rights, eminent domain, natural gas pipelines, power lines, data centers, and other large infrastructure projects aka the solar field discussion north of Clarinda.

When I looked back on the day, it really was a little bit of everything....4-H, farms, helping a local family, FFA, agriculture, and community. ❤️

That is what I love about being a small business owner here. My days aren't always spent behind a desk. I get to be out on farms, support our kids, help families when they need somewhere to turn, stay involved in what is happening in our area, and give back to the same community that continues to support my business.

That's pretty hard to beat. ❤️

Thank you to Page County Farm Bureau for a wonderful evening! https://livesocial.seismic.com/ajF4wL

🍎📚 BACK TO SCHOOL! ✏️🚌

And just like that… a new school year is here! 💛

To all of our students heading back through those school doors — whether you’re walking into kindergarten for the first time, starting your senior year, or somewhere in between — I hope this year brings you great friendships, new experiences, lots of learning, and memories you’ll carry with you for years to come.

To our teachers, paras, bus drivers, coaches, custodians, office staff, cooks, administrators and ALL of the people who pour into our kids every single day — THANK YOU. What you do matters more than you probably hear often enough. ❤️

And to the parents… we made it! 😂 Whether you’re celebrating the return of routine or wondering how your babies grew up this fast, I hope you soak in all the little moments along the way.

One of my favorite things about living and owning a business in a small community is getting to watch these kids grow up right in front of us. They are the future of our schools, businesses, farms and communities — and there is a whole lot to be proud of!

Here’s to a safe, successful and FUN 2026–2027 school year! 🎉📓✏️

🏠 YOUR ROOF COULD BE COSTING—or SAVING—YOU MONEY. 💰⛈️

With homeowners insurance costs continuing to be a concern for many families, it’s important to look at more than just the deductible and the bottom-line premium.

One area that can make a difference? Your roof.

At Farm Bureau Financial Services, qualifying homes may receive a discount for having a newer roof—but it doesn’t stop there.

👉 If you install a qualifying Class 3 or Class 4 impact-resistant roof covering, there may be additional discounts available.

That means when it’s time to replace your roof, the material you choose could potentially help you:

✅ Better protect your home from hail and severe weather
✅ Qualify for additional insurance discounts
✅ Reduce your homeowners insurance cost over time
✅ Make an investment in one of the most important parts of your home

And this is an area where insurance companies can be very different. Not every carrier rates roofs the same way, offers the same discounts, or provides the same roof coverage once a claim happens.

That’s why I always encourage homeowners to look beyond “What’s my premium?”

Ask:

How is my roof covered?
Is it Replacement Cost or Actual Cash Value?
Does the age of my roof change my coverage?
Are there discounts for Class 3 or Class 4 impact-resistant materials?

Those answers can matter a whole lot more than saving a few dollars on paper when a storm actually hits. ⛈️

If you’re replacing your roof—or simply haven’t reviewed your homeowners policy in a while—give my office a call. I’m happy to provide a free comprehensive insurance review and show you how FBFS compares.

Know what you have BEFORE you need to use it. 🏠

I’ve had several contractors calling lately asking on behalf of their clients whether FBFS offers discounts for Class 3 and Class 4 impact-resistant roofing. The answer is YES! 🏠👏

Those conversations have also been a good reminder of something I think every homeowner should have at least a basic understanding of when it comes to their insurance policy.

Most people naturally focus on two things:
What is my premium?
What is my deductible?

And while those numbers may look great on paper, they are only part of the story.

The real test of an insurance policy happens when you have a claim. That’s when you may discover that the policy you chose based primarily on price doesn’t provide the coverage you thought it did—or the coverage that matters most to you.

When it comes to your roof, do you know:

• Is it covered at Replacement Cost or Actual Cash Value (depreciated value)?
• How long does your policy provide replacement cost coverage based on the age of the roof?
• Does your carrier offer discounts for Class 3 or Class 4 impact-resistant roofing?

Insurance shouldn’t just look good on the declaration page. It needs to work when you actually need it.

If you’re replacing your roof, recently had one replaced, or simply aren’t sure how your current policy would respond, give me a call. I’m happy to provide a FREE comprehensive insurance review and quote so you can compare more than just the premium and deductible.

With today’s round of storms, I’m wondering… do you know how your homeowners policy covers your roof? 🏠⛈️

Does your policy provide Replacement Cost Coverage on your roof—or Actual Cash Value (ACV), meaning depreciation is factored into what you may receive at claim time?

And just as important… how many years into your roof’s life does that replacement cost coverage apply?

Roof coverage can vary significantly from one company to another, and unfortunately, it’s something many homeowners don’t think about until there’s a claim.

Did you also know that FBFS offers additional discounts for qualifying Class 3 and Class 4 impact-resistant roofing? 🙌

If you’ve recently replaced your roof—or you simply aren’t sure how your current roof is covered—give me a call. I’m always happy to help you understand what your policy actually says before Mother Nature gives us a reason to find out! 😉

And if you’d like to see how your current coverage compares, call me for a FREE quote and comprehensive insurance review. We’ll look at the whole picture—not just the premium—to make sure your coverage fits what you actually need. 🏡🚗

Eight years. 💜

For 8 years, I've had the privilege of being a buyer at the Page County 4-H Auction, and every year I'm reminded that supporting our community is one of the very best parts of being a small business owner.

When you walk into either of my offices, you'll see walls and shelves filled with thank-you notes, pictures, ribbons, and little reminders of the incredible people who make up our community. They come from 4-H kids, classrooms, schools, hospital foundations, golf and bowling tournaments, local organizations, our Chambers, and so many other events and causes I've been fortunate enough to support.

Those Thank-You's mean more to me than people probably realize. I love our little niche in this big old world. ❤️ And I am incredibly proud of the community we get to call home.

Sometimes it's easy to focus on what isn't going right. But when you intentionally look around with a positive mindset, you start seeing what I see every day: really good people. People who aren't necessarily walking through life without struggles, but who continue showing up, helping one another, raising good kids, working hard, and marching through their days like champs.

And this picture is extra special to me.

This young lady holds a very special place in my heart. She is one of the most giving, genuine, smart, and driven young women I know — and being one of my daughter's positive influences and friends' makes me appreciate her even more. She is preparing for her senior year, working toward her future, and building her college fund, and I was extremely proud to purchase her lamb this year among others. 💜

Yes, the auction supports a project. But it's about so much more than buying an animal.

It's investing in our kids.
It's rewarding months of work.
It's teaching responsibility, determination, and financial independence.
And it's telling them, "Your community sees you, and we believe in you."

Being a local insurance agency means far more to me than simply doing business in this community. It means being part of it with protecting what matters most.

Thank you, Page County, for giving my agency the opportunity to support you for all these years as Page County has supported my small business. With its business. I hope we never stop looking for ways to show up for one another. 💚🍀

Shop local. Support local. Invest in our kids. Be proud of where you come from.
