What is ice damming?
After snow and freezing temperatures, ice can form along the edges of a roof and block proper drainage. When that happens, melting snow has nowhere to go and can push back under the roof and into the structure. The resulting water intrusion can cause significant damage to the interior of a home or business. Insurance will usually cover the cost of these repairs.
