Walmart's Fintech One: Upcoming Developments

Walmart's fintech division, One, is getting additional funding next year. This follows the end of a partnership with Capital One last year, leading to the relaunch of the Walmart credit card. One aims to raise $300 million from Ribbit Capital, the same firm that helped launch it in 2021.

Real-time payments are a big challenge for mid-tier banks in the U. S. A survey finds that 59% of their business customers expect to use real-time payments more next year. Most banks plan to invest $5 million to $20 million in payment technology.

Many of these banks are looking to adopt the FedNow system, with 43% planning to do so in the next year. Fewer are focusing on the RTP network. ISO 20022 messaging will enhance payment processing and analytics; 17% of clients currently use it, and 45% plan to adopt it soon.

More than half of mid-tier bank business customers believe their use of real-time payments will increase in the next year.
