Maybe we're not “over the hill.” Maybe we're just getting to the part where our experience really matters.

Something someone said to me recently got me thinking.

How many women in their 50s and 60s have experienced that feeling of being talked down to, talked over, or made to feel like their questions aren't important?

Maybe it's at the doctor's office.

Maybe it's at the bank.

Maybe it's when talking about investments.

Maybe it's simply because someone assumes that because we're getting older, we don't need to be involved in the decisions anymore.

I don't believe that.

In fact, I think these are some of the most important years of our lives when it comes to making informed decisions about our money.

Retirement.
Social Security.
Investments.
Taxes.
Business ownership.
Taking care of aging parents.
Helping adult children.
Estate planning.

And sometimes, learning to take control of finances that someone else handled for years.
You don't have to know all the answers.

You don't have to understand every financial term.

And you should never feel embarrassed about asking someone to slow down and explain something again.

I'm 61, and I think there's something valuable about sitting across the table from someone who is living in the same chapter of life.

That's one of the things I want Barron Advisory to be known for:

A place where you can ask questions.
A place where you will be listened to.
A place where you won't be made to feel foolish for not knowing something.

Because financial advice isn't just about numbers.

It's about people.
And I think women deserve to be part of the conversation about their own financial future—not talked around, talked over, or talked down to.

Maybe we're not over the hill after all.

Maybe we're just getting started.

The decline in the unemployment rate will complicate the Fed’s decision process because the economy appears to be at full employment. However, the broad slowdown in hiring will add support for those arguing for keeping rates unchanged at next month’s Fed meeting.

In this week's Market Signals podcast, Chief Economist Dr. Jeffrey Roach is joined by Chief Market Strategist Chris Fasciano from Commonwealth Financial Network to discuss stronger-than-expected economic growth, rising Treasury yields, inflation pressures, and what could drive the Fed's next move.
