Hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
While markets were closed Monday, it’s important to remember we’re able to enjoy freedoms and opportunities because some gave everything in service to our country.
As we head into the week, here’s what we’re watching:
• Inflation and interest rates remain a major focus
• Oil prices have improved slightly
• Global uncertainty continues creating volatility in financial markets
• Mortgage rates finished last week relatively stable overall
On the housing side, the market continues to feel “slow and steady.”
Affordability remains challenging, inventory is still somewhat limited, and many buyers are waiting for the “perfect time” to make a move.
But despite that, most housing markets — especially throughout California — continue showing stability overall.
One interesting point shared recently by Jordan Levine, Chief Economist for the California Association of Realtors:
“The best time to buy a home was 25 years ago. The next best time is as soon as you can.”
That doesn’t mean rushing into something blindly.
It simply reinforces that long-term homeownership has historically remained one of the strongest wealth-building tools available.
Another major trend we’re seeing right now:
Many homeowners are carrying more consumer debt than they’d like — credit cards, monthly obligations, and rising costs — while also sitting on record amounts of home equity.
Because of that, more families are exploring:
• debt consolidation
• monthly payment reduction
• HELOCs
• fixed-rate HELOANs
• restructuring household debt
• using equity strategically to improve cash flow
Sometimes small adjustments can create meaningful monthly savings and financial breathing room.
