Big change ahead! The 1-cent coin (“penny”) is officially headed toward retirement. While pennies will remain legal tender for now, production is ending and supplies will gradually dwindle. As a result, you may start seeing cash transactions rounded to the nearest nickel.

At Capital City Bank, we’re here to help make this transition smooth:
• You can still deposit pennies — they’re still legal tender.
• Over time, fewer pennies in circulation may mean changes in how cash change is given.
• Digital and card payments are unaffected.

As Tropical Storm Elsa nears hurricane strength, several Capital City Bank offices in the path of the storm will be closed tomorrow. Virtual Tellers in the drive-ins at many of our offices will be available to provide clients uninterrupted access to our bankers and banking services as they make preparations for the storm. Visit a Virtual Teller for deposits, withdrawals and much more from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Weather permitting, some affected offices may re-open later in the day tomorrow.
