If you’re working toward your AI-GRS designation and just need one final course, the Chicago Chapter has you covered.

Review Case Studies – General will be offered this October in Oak Brook, IL with Rob Moorman, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS —and it is the only scheduled offering of this class in 2026.

In this course, you will put into practice the concepts in Review Theory-General. You will enhance your review skills by preparing two required review reports based on two case studies that present some of the issues reviewers face in review assignments. For each case study, you’ll develop opinions on the completeness, accuracy, adequacy, relevance, reasonableness, appropriateness, and credibility of another appraiser’s work and then communicate your opinions in a review report you design and draft yourself. By preparing written review reports based on the case studies, you’ll gain confidence in the application of review techniques. This course will benefit appraisers and other real estate professionals who regularly work with appraisals and reviews.

Litigation Assignments -
The Work After The Report by Joe Batis, MAI, AI-GRS

This 7-hour continuing education seminar provides a comprehensive exploration of the appraiser’s role in litigation assignments after the appraisal report has been completed. Designed for valuation professionals engaged in legal matters, the course focuses on the critical processes, responsibilities, and risks that arise once a report enters the litigation environment.

Participants will gain a practical understanding of key litigation terminology and procedures, including interrogatories, depositions, Daubert challenges, and expert witness responsibilities. The course also addresses the development of an appropriate scope of work, communication protocols, and file retention requirements to ensure compliance with professional standards and legal obligations.

Additional topics include working effectively with attorneys while avoiding allegations of advocacy, understanding USPAP and supplemental standards in a litigation context, and preparing for testimony through witness preparation and structured Q&A development. Attendees will also examine issues related to disclosure deadlines, admissibility of evidence, rebuttal testimony, and cross-examination techniques.

Through this program, participants will strengthen their ability to navigate the complexities of litigation assignments, enhance their credibility as expert witnesses, and manage risk while maintaining independence and professional integrity.
