With more than two decades of experience in commercial real estate, investment properties, and insurance, Troy has spent much of his career helping individuals and businesses make important decisions about their future. Now, he’s looking forward to continuing that work at Lakeshore through a more personalized approach to helping clients build, protect, and preserve what they’ve worked hard for. This month’s team spotlight is on Sean Lawless, Financial Representative! 🌿

Sean recently traded the office for the outdoors, leading a cleanup along the Green Bay Trail with the Rotary Club of Winnetka-Northfield—a trail that runs through the northern suburbs and is a go-to for runners, dog walkers and plenty of time spent outside.

Sean’s connection to community service goes back to his Boy Scout days. As he got older, he wanted to find a way to get involved again and found that through Rotary.

What drew him in was the organization’s bigger mission. Rotary works to promote peace, fight disease, support education and economic development, with projects that address needs both locally and around the world.

And Sean has gotten to experience both sides of that work. His club has helped build a garment factory in Morocco, while projects like the Green Bay Trail cleanup give members the chance to make a difference right in their own backyard.

“We enjoy doing bigger international projects, but we also enjoy helping to maintain the local community, especially outdoor spaces.”

The numbers are in, and it’s safe to say our 3rd year was a success!

We sailed right past our goal of 300 ducks, finishing with 455 ducks or $3,050 raised for Special Olympics Illinois at this year's Chicago Ducky Derby.

Before those ducks hit the water, our Lakeshore volunteers were busy helping with last-minute adoptions, handing out duck-themed merch, and getting everyone ready for splashdown. 🦆

And the collective impact was even bigger: 91,517 ducks adopted and $481,634 raised in support of Special Olympics Illinois and the athletes they serve.

A huge thank you to everyone who adopted, shared, volunteered, or came out to be part of the day!

With nearly two decades of experience in financial services and insurance, John has spent his career helping individuals and families protect themselves, their loved ones, and the money they've worked so hard to build. He joined Lakeshore to take his practice to the next level, drawn to the firm's culture of training, mentorship, and support, along with the opportunity to provide a more comprehensive approach. What drives John most is helping people realize their goals and dreams, and he says there's nothing more rewarding than seeing that work come to fruition.

We're proud to recognize Weyers McKeever Financial Partners, recently named CASA of McHenry County's 2026 Business Heroes.

Their partnership with CASA began in 2022 when Carrie Weyers became a CASA Advocate and introduced the organization to the rest of the team. What started as one person's passion for making a difference has grown into a shared commitment to supporting children and families throughout the community.

CASA of McHenry County provides trained volunteer advocates who stand up for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, ensuring they have someone in their corner when they need it most.

As the team puts it: "We believe in showing up for people, and supporting CASA is one meaningful way we can do that together."
