One theme that continues to stand out following Q1 earnings season is the resilience of quality companies. On Schwab Network with Diane King Hall, Salvatore Esposito, our Head of ETF Products, discussed why investors should "know what they own" and focus on the fundamentals behind their portfolios.

That philosophy is the foundation of Zacks' newest income-focused ETFs. Built on decades of earnings research, the Zacks Income ETF (ZINC) invests in companies with a track record of consistent, high-paying dividends with a track record of at least five years. The Zacks Preferred Income ETF (PRIZ) focuses on preferred securities issued by businesses with strong balance sheets. Both actively-managed funds take a differentiated approach to income investing by emphasizing quality companies, strong balance sheets, and consistent income potential.

For much of the past year, the market debate has centered on when the Fed would resume cutting interest rates. The June meeting, held this week, was circled as a distinct possibility for a pivot in monetary policy with Kevin Warsh as the new chairman.

Markets pulled back on Wednesday following the Federal Reserve's latest policy decision and Chair Kevin Warsh's first post-meeting press conference.

While the Fed left rates unchanged, updated projections showed a more hawkish outlook from some policymakers. Investors are now weighing what the central bank's shift away from forward guidance could mean.

Chief Market Strategist Brian Mulberry told Reuters that the market is "just kind of digesting a lot of this right now," adding that the Fed may return to providing "stable monetary policy over a long period of time" rather than forecasting where rates could go from one meeting to the next.

Wall Street's main stock indexes dropped by about one percent or more on Wednesday, as traders bet that the Federal Reserve's next move would be a rate hike after new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh highlighted the need to tame inflation and other policy makers projected rising interest rates later this year....

With his first FOMC meeting now complete, Chair Kevin Warsh is beginning to reshape how the Federal Reserve communicates and operates. In a discussion with Reuters Market Talk’s Lisa Bernhard, Chief Market Strategist Brian Mulberry weighed in on what the Fed's updated approach could mean for investors.

Brian noted that the shift away from forward guidance could have lasting implications for markets, adding that "we may not actually see any dot plots ever again" under Warsh's leadership.

He also pointed to Warsh's long-held view that "productivity gains will ultimately be deflationary," suggesting that stronger productivity could help ease price pressures and support economic growth.

One theme that continues to stand out following SpaceX's public debut is the strength of investor demand when retail participation is factored in. Chief Market Strategist Brian Mulberry shared his perspective with Carmen Reinicke at Bloomberg about the stock's rally since its IPO and what may be driving the momentum.

As Brian noted, the move higher was "really not at all unexpected," particularly given that 30% of the offering was made available to retail investors.

With the US-Iran deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz taking shape, markets are recalibrating quickly, and investors are being forced to make some big decisions. Chief Market Strategist Brian Mulberry joined BNN Bloomberg to discuss why he believes the recent decline in oil prices could be more lasting this time around, noting that, “we broke through the clear threshold of $80 a barrel. I think that's an important moment."

Brian also shared why Zacks passed on the SpaceX IPO for now, citing a lack of visibility into near-term profitability, and explained how upcoming IPO offerings from OpenAI and Anthropic could force investors to reallocate capital. Looking ahead, he believes pullbacks remain buying opportunities for high-quality companies with strong balance sheets and highlighted Apple and EMCOR as names that continue to stand out.

SpaceX's highly anticipated IPO made a strong debut Friday, with shares surging nearly 19% on their first day of trading and pushing the company's market capitalization above $2 trillion.

Chief Market Strategist Brian Mulberry highlighted what stood out most about the stock's first day of trading with Sean Conlon at CNBC. While many high-profile IPOs can be driven by short-term speculation, Brian noted that SpaceX's trading activity appeared far more measured, suggesting investors were adding the stock to portfolios rather than chasing a quick flip.

"This is not some type of a meme stock right out of the gate, that it actually is people adding it and holding it in their portfolio, not trying to turn it over," Brian said. He added that the stock's performance appeared "much more orderly than what I expected, and that's not a bad thing."

Volatility has picked up, and according to our Chief Market Strategist, Brian Mulberry, investors may need to get comfortable with more of it.

Joining Schwab Network live in-studio with Diane King Hall, Brian noted that while technology has significantly outperformed the broader market over the last 90 days, "more volatility is probably on the way" as valuations reset.

He discussed why Zacks is focusing on high-quality companies with durable earnings growth, the continued opportunity in technology, and names like Apple, Micron, and EMCOR that are benefiting from the ongoing AI infrastructure buildout.

The real story for Apple (AAPL) is its push in AI, says Brian Mulberry. The Mag 7 giant's Siri upgrade is something he sees offering high margin opportunity for future profits.
