Shake and bake! 🏎️🍞

Thanks to Fire Restoration for a great Halloween party, and to all the agents who came out! Scott showed up as Ricky Bobby in the Wonder Bread suit, and Tiffany matched him as a fellow race car driver.

All year long, we’re the commercial insurance team local agents trust to take care of their clients. If you run a crew, a kitchen or a fleet, we help with:
🔹 General Liability
🔹 Workers’ Compensation
🔹 Commercial Auto

We compare multiple carriers and help you lower your risk, not just your premium. We speak English, Spanish, Polish, Ukrainian and Russian.

Here's what surprised us most when researching this: most plumbers have a workers' comp policy, but way fewer have proper HNOA (hired & non-owned auto) coverage.

Translation: If your employee uses their personal truck for a supply run and gets in an accident—you're liable.

We built out the exact scenarios in the blog post above. Worth reading if you're gearing up for winter.

Real question though: Have you ever had an insurance gap that almost bit you? Drop a comment—we want to hear the stories.

Losing a bid over a certificate of insurance? It happens to Chicago roofing contractors more than almost any other trade.

Roofing was OSHA's most-cited trade for fall protection in fiscal year 2025, and it carries one of the three highest-rated workers' comp classifications in all of construction. That combination drives premiums up — but it's usually a fixable insurance program, not a fixed cost.

Our new blog covers:

What actually drives roofing insurance costs (EMR, class codes, and more)
The most common reasons COIs get rejected on GC bids
Five steps to strengthen your program before your next renewal

Read it here: https://www.weeryouragent.com/blog/on-the-edge-what-chicago-roofing-contractors-need-to-know-about-insurance-coverage-and-costs-in-2026/

Had a bid held up by a COI issue recently? Give us a call — we review roofing insurance programs across Chicago, Wisconsin, and Indiana every day.

This is a crucial topic for roofing contractors! Understanding the nuances of insurance can significantly impact your bids and overall success in the industry. Make sure to review your policies thoroughly! 🔍🏗️

We had a great time out on the course last week! 🏌️

Weer Insurance Group was proud to sponsor the Saint Charles North Youth Wrestling Club's golf outing — supporting our local wrestlers and their families.

Our CEO Scott got out there and golfed, and Tiffany, our top commercial producer, held down our sponsorship table at the hole, chatting with everyone who came through — including a bunch of local business owners (shoutout to the contractors, bar, and restaurant owners we caught up with!).

It's always a great day when we get to combine a little friendly competition with supporting the kids in our own backyard and catching up with fellow local business owners from around the Chicago area. Thanks to the SCN Youth Wrestling Club for having us — can't wait for next year!

(Swipe through for photos of Scott golfing and Tiffany at our table!)

Ever wonder what happens if your condo association has a $50,000 insurance deductible? In Illinois, the board can legally bill that deductible directly to the unit owner whose unit the damage came from — not spread it across everyone's dues. 🏢💧
Our latest post breaks down:
✅ What 765 ILCS 605/12(c) actually allows a board to do
✅ A real Illinois court case that upheld this authority
✅ Why a $1,000 loss assessment limit on your personal policy probably isn't enough anymore
✅ What boards should tell owners before a claim, not after

Think D&O insurance is optional for your condo board? It's not — Illinois law requires it.
Under 765 ILCS 605/12(a)(3)(D), every Illinois condo association must carry Directors & Officers coverage for its board. Most boards know they need property and liability insurance. Far fewer know D&O is legally mandated too — and even fewer know what the law requires that coverage to actually include.
Our latest guide breaks down:
✅ What the statute requires (and the common citation error competitors get wrong)
✅ What D&O actually protects your board members from
✅ D&O vs. fidelity bond — the two coverages boards mix up most
✅ The 5 most common mistakes we see at renewal

Chicago contractors: would your insurance survive a $120,000 claim?
A general contractor near the Loop learned the hard way how fast one uninsured subcontractor can turn into a disaster. The difference between a clean claim and a bankrupting one came down to paperwork he had on file before the job started.
We put together a plain-English guide on the coverage every downtown contractor needs — plus the Workers' Comp audit mistakes that quietly inflate your premiums. Worth 5 minutes before your next bid. 🏗️

Serve on your condo board? Quick question: do you know if your building's master policy covers unit interiors — or just the bare walls? 🏢

Most board members can't answer that, and it's the #1 thing that turns a building claim into a fight between the association and unit owners.

We just published a guide on what every Chicago condo association should check before their next renewal — replacement cost, D&O coverage for board members, water damage rules, and more.

Read it here: https://www.weeryouragent.com/blog/

Want a second set of eyes on your master policy? We review them for free — just send us a message. We serve associations across Chicago and the suburbs, in English, Spanish, Polish, Ukrainian, and Russian.
