Through a 27-year partnership with our Mortgage Partnership Finance Program, State Street can offer long-term fixed-rate mortgages and competitive rates while keeping homeownership affordable. For income-eligible borrowers, the bank also pairs MPF loans with our Downpayment Plus® (DPP®) Program, leveraging over $2 million in grants since 2001 to expand access to homeownership.

We were proud to attend and sponsor Legal Aid Chicago’s Annual Luncheon last week—an event that brings together leaders across the legal, civic, and social justice communities to support access to legal services for people facing barriers to justice.

This year’s luncheon honored the University of Chicago Medicine Trauma Center with the Champion of Justice Award for its collaboration with Legal Aid Chicago through Recovery Legal Care, a Medical-Legal Partnership helping patients address critical legal needs that can affect health and stability.

What does it feel like to own your first home? For Kathryn Hazelton, it means freedom – and knowing her payments are controlled.

Kathryn connected with La Casa De Esperanza, a HUD-certified counseling agency in the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), to strengthen her financial position and learn the homebuying process. Through individualized counseling, she completed homebuyer education, prepared for a mortgage with Waukesha State Bank, and built the confidence to take the next step. She also secured a $10,000 grant through our Downpayment Plus® (DPP®) Program – helping her close on her first home and keep her savings intact.

Kathryn's story is one of thousands made possible through our $2.5 million investment in WHEDA in 2025. Through this partnership, we're expanding access to housing counseling and helping more Wisconsin families build long-term financial stability.

We’re proud to partner with our member, CIBC US, to provide a $141,312.50 Community First® Developer Program grant to Full Circle Communities, Inc. supporting the next generation of affordable housing developers.

These fellows will gain hands-on experience across the affordable housing development lifecycle, from early feasibility analysis and financing applications to construction oversight and compliance tracking on active projects. They’ll also engage directly with residents and communities, giving them a unique opportunity to connect development work with the real housing needs of the people it serves.

This week, we joined our members and partners at Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity's annual Habitat Hero Award Dinner, where EVP and Head of Sales Carolyn Jaw, who serves on the organization's Board of Directors, presented an award to Wintrust and CEO Tim Crane for their leadership in advancing affordable housing. In addition to recognizing the significant contributions of corporate leaders and distinctive individuals who share a passion for Habitat’s mission, it was an honor to have our MPF® Habitat for Humanity® Program highlighted during the event.

During , we’re highlighting how FHLBank Chicago’s Downpayment Plus® Program is helping more individuals and families overcome upfront barriers to homeownership. Since 2024, IncredibleBank has used DPP® to help approximately 30 families move into stable, affordable homes.

Home Lending Specialist Carmen Schipferling shared how IncredibleBank is using DPP® to open doors for first-time homebuyers in Wisconsin’s Northwoods—making it possible for more qualifying families to turn the dream of homeownership into reality.
