COUNTRY Financial continues to maintain its financial strength and deliver on promises to clients. AM Best, an independent insurance ratings agency, affirmed our A+(Superior) rating.

This is especially notable, as many other insurance companies have received downgrades as the industry struggles with higher costs and rising losses.

COUNTRY has been in business for nearly 100 years, and we are making long-term decisions that will help us to be there for clients for the next 100 years.

Deductibles are a key part of your home and car insurance policies. When you have an insurance claim, your deductible is the amount of money you pay for repairs before insurance starts paying.

❔-- How does a deductible work?
When you buy an insurance policy, you’ll select a deductible amount that you're comfortable paying. Your insurance company will use this amount to set your premium.
If something happens to your covered home or car, you’ll file an insurance claim. Your insurance company will take your deductible amount out of the total payout of the claim.

❔-- How do deductibles affect rates?
Your chosen insurance deductible will impact the premium you pay for your insurance policy. In general, if you choose a higher deductible, you'll have a lower premium, and vice versa.

❔-- How do I set my deductible?
Standard home insurance uses dollar-amount deductibles. Remember, this is the amount you'll pay out of pocket if you have a claim, so think about your budget and how much risk you're willing to take when selecting a deductible.

❔-- Why do I have to pay a deductible?
Insurance deductibles play a key role in how insurance works. You pay a deductible to help:
• Control insurance costs
• Encourage responsible behavior
• Prevent fraud

As always, contact me so I can help you choose the right deductible for your home and auto insurance needs.

Most of us already have car and home insurance, because it’s either required by law or your mortgage lender. But what would happen if you were in some type of accident that costs far more than what your insurance protects?

That’s where additional liability (or Umbrella) insurance can help. Here’s a quick overview on what Umbrella insurance is, how it works, and its average cost.

▪️ What is umbrella insurance? It’s additional liability insurance that picks up where your car or home insurance leaves off. Without this additional coverage, an accident that costs more than your liability limit could leave you paying the rest out of pocket.

▪️ Who needs umbrella insurance? Homeowners with families, high-net-worth individuals and landlords are three key groups who could benefit from the additional coverage.

▪️ Sounds expensive … can I afford Umbrella insurance? For what you spend at your favorite coffee shop each year would be more than enough to get you $1 million in Umbrella insurance (it costs on average about a few hundred dollars per year)

▪️ How do I get Umbrella insurance? Talk to your insurance agent. They’re standing by ready to help.

With wildfire season upon us, we wanted to pass along some important tips to make sure you, your family and your belongings are safe in the event of a wildfire. Here are our top 10 tips to keep you safe and protected.

1. Create a defensible space around your home. That means removing any dead or dying weeds, leaves, cones, bark and shrubs planted under trees. Prune all your branches that overhang roofs, cut down smaller trees and remove any dead vegetation from your property. If you’re able, install about 5 feet of noncombustible material (gravel, pavers, brick, etc.) around your home’s foundation.

2. Maintain 6-inches of clearance from the ground to your siding. If you can, consider upgrading to noncombustible siding like concrete or brick.

3. Regularly clean debris from your roof and gutters.

4. Inspect and regularly prune and trim the trees on your property. Trim all branches so they’re no closer than 10 feet to your home.

5. Use a Class A roof covering. These offer the best protection for your home. Clay tiles, slate, fiberglass asphalt composition shingles and concrete are all good examples of Class A roofing.

6. Install noncombustible fencing like metal, stone or concrete.

7. Keep embers out of your eaves and vents. Cover them with 1/8th inch mesh and box in open eaves to create a soffit.

8. Protect your windows and use multi-pane, tempered glass windows. Always keep them closed when a wildfire is threatening your neighborhood.

9. Protect your deck. Use deck boards that comply with new construction requirements in wildfire-prone areas. Clear out any combustibles stored underneath the deck and create defensible space around it.

10. Keep flammable items away from your home. Things like firewood or propane tanks should be stored a minimum of 30 feet from your home’s foundation.

You need car insurance, but do you understand why? Get the answers to your car insurance questions to get the protection you need.
▪️ ▪️ What is car insurance? ▪️ ▪️
Car insurance is protection for your car. You pay your auto insurer a premium and in exchange, they agree to pay for the cost to repair or replace your car if it’s damaged in a collision or other covered event (these are outlined in your policy).
----
▪️ ▪️ What's covered? ▪️ ▪️
Most standard car insurance policies include 5 types of car insurance coverages:
Collision coverage for protection for if your car collides with another car or something else.
Comprehensive coverage to protect your vehicle from theft and non-collision damage.
Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist coverage for protection if you’re in an accident caused by someone with no, or not enough, insurance.
Medical Payments or Personal Injury Protection pays for costs resulting from injuries to the driver and passengers in the insured’s car.
Liability coverage pays for damages and injuries to others in an accident that you cause.
----
▪️ ▪️ Why do I need car insurance? ▪️ ▪️
All states require car insurance, but the level and types of insurance vary by state. Your insurance agent can help you through your state’s requirements.
----
▪️ ▪️ How much does it cost? ▪️ ▪️
What you pay for car insurance will vary based on many factors. Some are about you and your car (like the car you drive and where you live), while others are based on what types and levels of coverage you choose.
----
Talk to your insurance agent to make sure you have the right car coverage for your needs!
