Last week, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed into law Senate Bill 3086, which will enable the Illinois Treasurer’s office to invest in private placement fixed income securities. The state plans to use its new authority to back the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust (HIT) program, which aims to deliver affordable housing and accelerate community development while creating new union construction and skilled trades jobs. As proud supporters of organized labor, ABOC is glad that the state will be supporting a program that creates good union jobs and provides a boost to the community.

This week, ABOC’s Amanda Leong and Benjamin Hoy attended the 98th Indiana State Building Trades Constitutional Convention, which was held in South Bend, IN. The Indiana State Building and Construction Trades Council represents more than 80,000 craft professionals, who are members of 75 affiliated local Building Trades unions. The Convention brings together delegates from the affiliated Building Trades to learn and discuss important issues facing the members. Informational workshops were held for the delegates to learn more legal topics, Indiana’s unemployment insurance portal, campaign finance law, and investing & banking options for general/apprenticeship/affiliated funds.

Amanda Leong (Senior Vice President, Trust Investments, Union & Commercial Services) said, “Ben Hoy and I were excited to represent ABOC and enjoyed the opportunity to discuss banking and investment options for the attendees’ home locals during the workshop presentation. We appreciated the engagement we had with clients and prospective clients. Rob Henderson and Sharon Wyatt did a wonderful job planning the Convention!”

Trina Franklin and Kimberly Kam from ABOC’s Union & Commercial Services team were happy to join Jen Luetgert and Derek Luetgert to celebrate the grand opening of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW)196’s state-of-the-art training center in Genoa, IL. The 25,000 square foot facility features two large classrooms equipped with multimedia, and a broad range of equipment that will allow groundmen and apprentices to get hands-on experience for their field work. “We’re thrilled to have provided financing for this project from the start,” said Trina Franklin, Vice President, Union & Commercial Services Manager. “This facility will help thousands of IBEW members from across the Midwest stay on top of the latest technologies and safety protocols.” Congratulations to IBEW 196 for bringing this training center online!

John Vogel and Robert Majdecki golfed in support of IUOE 150, Navy Seals, and their families.
