This month Sergio Carillo joined Union partners Jen Luetgert and Derek Luetgert of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 196 on the golf course for an important cause: American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ 18th Annual Golf Outing to benefit Kreider Services’ Autism Program. ABOC was a proud sponsor of the event. Sergio said “It was great to swing for solidarity! I was honored to have joined and supported AFSCME on the course, standing together as a union family to raise vital awareness and support for autism.”

Congratulations to International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers on a successful Sixth District Progress Meeting and Women’s Conference! Kimberly Kam, Illiana Ebbole, and Sergio Carillo enjoyed attending and supporting the Bank’s IBEW customers as well as meeting new IBEW leadership and delegates. Illiana Ebbole said “There were numerous attendees from across the IBEW Sixth District (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) – and District Leaders from Kentucky, Texas, and Washington D.C. There was no shortage of energy, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. The last evening of the Conference wrapped up with a reception at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. It was the perfect week to be in Indy!” The two key topics of the Conference were mental health support for members and leaning in to elevate more tradeswomen. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and ABOC strongly supports IBEW in raising awareness on this important topic.

This month, Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO) presented scholarship awards during their annual luncheon, for which ABOC was a proud sponsor. We would like to congratulate the deserving scholarship recipients and also Related Midwest (a local real estate developer) for receiving an “Excellence in Business Award” as a result of their ongoing partnership with Chicago’s union construction trades. ABOC’s Illiana Ebbole, Bill Kerth, and Sergio Carillo were happy to be in attendance to recognize Related Midwest’s achievement and to salute CISCO Executive Director Dan Allen’s impending retirement.

Last week a team of ABOC volunteers provided a donation on behalf of the Bank and enjoyed working alongside partners and friends in the construction and real estate industries for an important cause, to end clothing insecurity. Mary Beth O’Brien (Trust Officer, Retirement Services) said “It was an amazing volunteering experience! It was so clean, cheerful, fun, and organized. Everyone should volunteer there!” Cradles to Crayons Chicago's mission is to “provide children and families living in homeless or low-income situations with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play." ABOC is proud to have been a Spinach Level Sponsor at Growing Home Inc's 24th Annual Benefit last week. ABOC’s HR and UCS teams loved spending time with the participants and helping to support Growing Home’s mission by teaching financial literacy, assisting with interview prep, and working on the farm. Chynise Cunningham said “It’s exciting to see students grow. It’s great to celebrate the organization and raise money.” Congratulations to Growing Home and thank you for your partnership in helping our community have safe places to work, eat, and live.
