After tackling the initial fire damage, we moved on to framing where we completely reimagined the floorplan layouts. We focused on maximizing utility and natural light to create spaces that were both warm and functional. We were also able to retain the original 120+ year old staircase and restore it to its former glory. Not to mention, you can see the Sears Tower from the front windows.

Another transformation in the books! This unique renovation retained and restored all of the 100+ year old wood trim, millwork and doors. It was important for us to respect the original architectural and design elements while layering on modern upgrades such as in unit washer dryer, dishwasher, granite countertops and more. This unit really captures the character and essence of true Chicago living.

Last week, Paul, our Head of Construction, received a 9:30pm call from Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez and his team asking to build showers for arriving migrant families in a Pilsen warehouse. An hour later, our crew arrived and worked through the night to build four showers. The showers were functional in 24 hours time and all costs were covered by our team.
Every partner and employee of the Exterplexy team is an immigrant or a child of immigrants. We strongly empathize with the desire to seek opportunity and a better life. Regardless of anyone's personal opinions on the topic, I think most can agree that the current immigration system is beyond broken and in need of serious reform. If you are interested in donating or volunteering, please reach out to the Pilsen Food Pantry.

Our clients were looking for an owner-occupied 3-flat that they could truly call home. Robert set out to find them that needle in the haystack property and we are excited to share that they just closed on this incredible investment property In Humboldt Park!

This building retains many of its original features from when it was built in 1897, including original millwork and ornate masonry design. The brick walls are three courses deep and the building is built like a fortress. The sellers undertook an extensive multi-year renovation that layered in modern upgrades to bring the building into the 21st century. Today, our clients will be able to enjoy this home while significantly subsidizing their mortgage with the upstairs tenants.

Check out the before and after of our most ambitious project in North Lawndale to date!

Through a public/private partnership with our lender, Community Investment Corporation, as well as the City of Chicago, a portion of this project was funded by the Vacant Building TIF Purchase and Rehabilitation Program. Exterplexy has in turn committed to keeping at least half of the units in the building affordable to those making less than 50% of the area median income for a period of not less than 15 years. We are excited to share that 100% of the tenants that are in process of moving in will qualify under this criteria. We are encouraged by the city's commitment to incentivizing private investment in historically underserved communities and are excited to continue building on our commitment to quality, affordable housing.

to this front facade facelift. To accomplish this transformative project, we enlisted the help of Dorian Janowicz for design inspiration, Bricks Incorporated for brick selection, and aMa-Architecture, Inc for plans and permits. What was once an eyesore is now the stand-out building on the block.
