Coaching news shocked the basketball world this morning as it was announced that Michigan head coach Dusty May is leaving the school to become the next head coach of the Dallas Mavericks.

Whether May can succeed at the NBA level or not remains to be seen, but the Mavericks are definitely losing a lot of one thing in this deal: money.

May’s salary will likely make him a top-10 highest paid coach in the NBA, and the Mavs still have to buyout Jason Kidd’s contract, which was also a top-10 contract in the NBA and had four years remaining.

Is Dusty May the answer for the Mavericks?
