Established by the Illinois state legislature in 1895, the Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund manages members' assets and administers benefits. The $13.7 billion pension fund serves more than 98,000 members and provides pension and health insurance benefits to more than 27,150 beneficiaries. A majority of CTPF annuitants (83%) live in Illinois and the $1.5 billion in pension payments they receive generate $2.1 billion in total economic impact for the state.

During the October 15, 2026, Election Committee Meeting, Tammie F. Vinson and Philip Weiss were certified as candidates for the two open Teacher Trustee positions after meeting all eligibility requirements. Because the number of certified candidates did not exceed the number of open positions, the Teacher Trustee Election was canceled, and the Canvassing Board declared both candidates elected. Trustees will take their oath and be sworn in during the November 19, 2026, Board of Trustees Meeting. Learn more at ctpf.org/election-central.
