Over a year ago, around October 2022, we heard about this new IoT device called Ting. The idea of the device was that it could help detect bad wiring and electrical arcing in your home, which can lead to a housefire. We decided to buy one for ourselves - $99 - and try it out. Nothing could have been easier - just plug it in, download the app, and sync. You're done. Each week we receive an email report of my voltage. Thankfully, we have not had any immediate notifications or calls from Ting telling us we have arcing, but we certainly feel better knowing Ting is monitoring the electricity.

Even more impressive, as we found out firsthand, the Ting sensor also alerts to low temperature. We happened to have a door open and received a notification from Ting that it had "detected a low temperature condition and I should take action."

Ting does partner with some insurance companies, like State Farm, Nationwide, PURE, and Liberty Mutual wherein you can get a free device.

The 2023 Atlantic Hurricane season is officially upon us. Are you properly protected and insured? Don't wait to review your wind/hurricane, flood, and water back-up coverage.
