In 30 days I turn 30 and I’ve been reflecting on the past ten years of my life. Multiple moves, careers, friendships, relationships, and everything in between. It makes me emotional when I think about how far I’ve come, and how much I’ve accomplished. And looking back it’s now clearer than ever how life really does put you exactly where you need to be exactly when you need to be there. Here are 10 things I would tell my younger self if I had to do it all again ⬇️🤍
1. Your career will grow faster the second you stop waiting to feel “ready” and just start showing up consistently.
2. Most people are figuring life out as they go. Adulthood is way less polished than everyone makes it look online.
3. The older I get, the more I realize protecting your energy matters more than being liked by everyone.
4. Building confidence has a lot less to do with appearance and a lot more to do with keeping promises to yourself.
5. Some friendships naturally change as you grow, and it doesn’t always have to end badly for it to still be sad. You’ll also meet new friends who will change your life for the better.
6. Success is a lot more fun when you actually like the life you built outside of work too.
7. Dating in your late 20’s teaches you that consistency, effort, and emotional maturity are actually attractive. Have fun and when the time is right, the person you deserve will come into your life.
8. It’s okay to ask for help and take a step back to focus on your mental, emotional, and physical health. Without those, nothing else will flourish.
9. Nobody talks enough about how much discipline it takes to keep going when results aren’t immediate. Discipline is key to almost everything.
10. Your 20’s teach you that becoming who you want to be is less about one huge moment and more about the small habits, boundaries, and decisions you make every day.
My goal is to be present the next 30 days as I reflect and cherish the last month in my 20’s. And if I’ve learned anything in this past decade, it’s that two things can be true; your life can be joyful and unbearable all at once, and that’s how you know you’re doing it right
