This week, GAC had the opportunity to attend and present at the Credit Builders Alliance Financial Equity Conversations Series!

GAC's loan officer, Aloni Harris, discussed the challenges of the "bank invisible" and shared details on various strategies GAC implements to support those that have been underserved in the financial services industry. Aloni also presented on GAC's Pathway to Enterprise for Returning Citizens (PERC) loan and shared details on the underwriting practices we have incorporated for this product to ensure our team is intentional in the way we consider requests.

Our loan programs are designed to provide small businesses with an opportunity for credit growth without the burden of high rates.

Despite rising rates in the economy, GAC loans remain as low as 3% for some of our loan products and averaging 8.5% overall.

Exciting news! LISC Strategic Investments and Uber Eats partnered to launch the Black Restaurant Fund. The Black Restaurant Fund invests in the growth of Black-owned restaurants and food service businesses, filling historic capital gaps in financing.

The Fund is targeting investments towards restaurants in economically disadvantaged communities that have employees, are partners of Uber Eats, and generate revenues from $250,000 to $3 million.

GAC is collaborating with McKinsey & Company’s Chicago office to launch the Fast Grants Program. Fast Grants is an initiative to help local organizations with founders from underrepresented communities tackle their toughest challenges and achieve sustainable, inclusive growth at scale.

Together, McKinsey & Company and GAC will provide grants ranging from $5,000-$10,000 to organizations owned by individuals from underrepresented communities who show notable promise for impact. Grantees will also have access to McKinsey & Company’s expertise/support to help refine and scale their organizations over a six-month period through consulting support that will address business and operational considerations.
