Wyoming wind doesn't take a day off. 🌬️

Patio umbrella in the neighbor's yard. Trash can two blocks down. Trampoline that ended up somewhere nobody can explain. If you live in Cheyenne long enough, the wind eventually takes something of yours.

A few things worth knowing before the next big blow:

1️⃣ Wind and hail damage to your roof, siding or fence is usually handled under your homeowners policy — but what's covered, and your deductible, depends on your specific policy.
2️⃣ Detached things (fences, sheds, that shade sail) often fall under a different limit than the house itself. Worth checking what yours is.
3️⃣ Take photos of your yard, roofline and outbuildings on a calm day. "Before" pictures make a claim conversation much easier later.

Coverage varies by policy and situation — nothing here is a promise about yours, it's just what we'd tell a neighbor over the fence (assuming the fence is still standing).

So: what has the wind taken from your yard? Drop it in the comments 👇 We're genuinely curious how bad it gets out there.

New driver in the house? 🔑

Somewhere in Cheyenne this month, a kid is walking out the door with keys for the first time and a parent is standing in the kitchen pretending to be calm. We've been there.

Three things worth sorting out before they back out of the driveway:

1️⃣ Tell us they're driving. A new licensed driver in the household usually needs to be added to the policy — even if they're mostly driving your car.
2️⃣ Know what happens if they're in someone else's car. The answer isn't the same for every family, and it's a better question to ask now than after a fender bender.
3️⃣ Ask about good-student and driver-training discounts. They're not automatic — they have to be applied.

Coverage varies by policy and situation, so nothing here is a promise about yours — it's just what we'd want a neighbor to check.

Parents: what's the one rule you made when your kid started driving? Drop it in the comments 👇 We'll take the best ones.

Want us to look at your household drivers before school picks up? Message us or call 307-634-2715. No pressure, no sales pitch.

The Glovebox Test 🛻

Wyoming driving is its own thing — gravel roads, crosswind, hail out of nowhere, and 40 miles between exits. Here's what we think is worth keeping in the glovebox:

1️⃣ Your current insurance card (the one that hasn't expired)
2️⃣ Vehicle registration
3️⃣ A pen and something to write on — names, plate numbers, phone numbers after a fender bender
4️⃣ Our number, so you're not searching for it on the side of I-25: 307-634-2715

Bonus points for a flashlight and a blanket. This is Wyoming.

Which one are you missing right now? Be honest in the comments 👇 And if you're not sure what your policy actually covers after a road incident, message us — coverage varies by policy and situation, so we'll walk through yours in plain English. No pressure.

Answer time! 🛻

On Thursday we asked which one was the myth. It was #3 — tools stolen out of your parked truck generally are NOT replaced by your auto policy. Auto covers the vehicle; the loose tools in the bed are usually personal property (home or renters), and if you use them for work, they often need business/tool coverage instead.

The other two were true: paint color doesn't change your rate, and a gravel-road rock chip may be covered depending on the comprehensive/glass coverage you chose.

Nice work to everyone who guessed in the comments. Coverage varies by policy and situation, so if you're a contractor, tradesman, or weekend project person hauling tools around Laramie County, send us a message and we'll look at how yours is actually written — plain English, no pressure.

Two truths and a myth — Wyoming edition 🛻

1️⃣ The color of your truck doesn't change your auto insurance rate.
2️⃣ That rock chip from a gravel road may be covered — it depends on the comprehensive/glass coverage you picked.
3️⃣ If tools get stolen out of your parked truck, your auto policy pays to replace them.

One of these is a myth. Guess in the comments — 1, 2, or 3 — and we'll post the answer Friday. 👇

Coverage varies by policy and situation, so if you're not sure what yours actually says, send us a message and we'll walk through it in plain English. No pressure, just a neighbor helping a neighbor.

Is your roof and vehicle ready for Wyoming hail season? ⛈️

A few minutes reviewing your coverage now can prevent surprises after a storm. Check your deductibles, confirm what your policy covers, and take current photos of your roof and vehicles for your records.

Not sure what your coverage says? Send the Salazar Agency a message—we’re local, we answer the phone, and we’ll help you understand it clearly.
