CHECK YOUR STUDENT LOANS TODAY!!!!

Recently, we’ve seen an increase in borrowers experiencing unexpected late payments reported on their credit due to student loans coming out of deferment. In many cases, these borrowers were unaware that their deferment period had ended and that payments were now due. To help protect your credit and stay on top of your financial profile, we strongly encourage you to do the following:

Log in to your student loan servicer’s website or use the Federal Student Aid portal at studentaid.gov to review your loan status.
Check if your loans are still in deferment or forbearance, or if repayment has started.
Make sure your contact information is current with your servicer to avoid missing future notifications.
Set up auto-pay if possible to prevent missed payments.

If you’ve recently seen changes to your credit report that you weren’t expecting, this may be the reason. Taking a few minutes now to check on your student loans can help avoid unwanted surprises.
