I am currently facing the biggest battle of my life, and we urgently need your help.
I have been hospitalized @ UPenn in Philadelphia for end-stage heart failure. Last week, I survived a terrifying "electrical storm" where my heart went into VTach and my ICD shocked me three times in one day to save my life—including once while I was driving on the highway. I am only here today because my best friend grabbed the wheel and rushed me to the VA emergency room.
Now, I am waiting for life-saving surgery to receive an LVAD (a mechanical heart pump). I can't leave the hospital until I recover from this procedure, but it is my only path forward to get healthy and lose the weight I need to qualify BMI-wise for a heart transplant.
This crisis has pushed our resources to the absolute limit. We are completely losing two incomes: my own, and that of my amazing fiancée Dana, who has to step away from work to be my full-time 24/7 caregiver. As a disabled veteran, my current 10% VA rating only brings in $180.42 a month, and my evaluation for an increase is on hold until I can physically recover and attend the mandatory exams.
Between our $2,400 monthly mortgage and the daily costs of Dana's 40-minute commute from New Jersey to Philly (a $6 bridge toll, gas, and $10-$15 daily hospital parking), the bills are piling up fast while the resources we had have been depleted and we have no income.
We are incredibly grateful for the miracle of this medical care, but we cannot survive this financial storm alone. If you are able to donate to help us keep our home and cover our expenses in our season of uncertainty and turmoil, it would mean the world to us. If you can't donate, please consider sharing this post to help spread the word.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, prayers, and support.
