According to a recent article from Knowbe4, "‼️Attackers Continue to Pose as Help Desks in Social Engineering Attacks‼️"

❓ What does this mean for you?
Bad actors will send consumers a high volume of spam emails, then reach out to that consumer through Microsoft Teams, pretending to be a Help Desk Employee, ready to help you stop the spam emails.

💡 What's really happening?
According to the article, “The harvesting script...employs a ‘double-entry’ psychological trick. It is programmed to reject the first and second password attempts as incorrect. This serves two functions: it reinforces the user’s belief that the system is legitimate and performs real-time validation, and it ensures that the attacker captures the password twice, significantly reducing the risk of a typo in the stolen data.”

🛡️ What should you do to protect yourself?
As always, if you receive a suspicious call, hang up and dial your IT Department directly (if at work). If you are using a personal device, or on your home network, hang up and contact a trusted Computer Store.
