"Cath Shaw Insure has made the process of estate planning painless. I attended one of her workshops and realized the urgency to get this done sooner rather than later. I anticipated a long, drawn out technical endeavor but she took care of all the details. She helped us understand all of the assets and paperwork that needed to be evaluated, and set us up with manageable appointments, and tools and resources to tackle this process. If you’ve been thinking about estate planning, and everyone should, I highly recommend having a conversation with Cath first. She’s got this down to a science!" --Jenn B.

When is the last time you saw someone who had an auto accident pull out their wallet and pay cash for the property they damaged? How about surgery or going to the doctor? Do people pay cash for these things? Most likely, with each of these examples, folks use insurance to weather the financial burden.

Fast forward to end of life care. People avoid thinking about it. Denial, lack of education or no people to help plan creates tricky situations. Yesterday, we met with someone who's sister's kids were scrambling to literally spend the funds from selling a house, so she could pay for the care she needed.

Meanwhile other folks with means typically spend down accounts twice as fast as those that plan, zeroing out faster. They are doing the equivalent of driving without insurance, a truly cost prohibitive way to fund end of life care, leaving less of a legacy for their heirs, often the whole purpose of building that wealth in the first place!

Some people use long term care. For others, the timing is off, or they dislike that approach. No worries. There are many ways to solve this, based on your overal picture. Some solutions involve legal documents, while others involve insurance--the kind that if you don't use, either you or your heirs get your money back, plus interest! Much better than car insurance where you pay and pay!

With proper planning, scenarios like these can be avoided. Plans are in place, creating peace of mind, assurance, clarity.

Let's get you the help, education and tools you need. Let's have fun doing it, sharing stories and feeling relief. We've got a team to have your back. Call us to get started: 423-521-5877.

Today we worked on insurance as a key part of Marti's estate plan. She is younger than her husband, and her husband is already retired. They have their dream retirement home they bought together. There is $80,000 left on the mortgage. If Marti were to pass, Bob, her retired husband, would be in a pickle without her income, and with his fixed Social Security.

So as a key part of her estate plan, we considered Bob and their home. We devised a way financially to pay for that entire mortgage if she were to pass. Then in time, as the mortgage was done, the coverage would morph into other estate goals we would phase in later.

There's a way to solve most every angle of estate planning. The key is to get a good team to help look at ways you can cover things and get peace of mind. We love what we do here at Cath Shaw insure. Give use a call or text us at 423-521-5877 to set up a time to talk.

There is someone that I network with that came in to talk about estate planning a few weeks ago. She decided to put it off as she was about to go skiing with girlfriends. "Let's get together after I come back, and I can really focus," she said. Upon return, she got bronchitis that moved into pneumonia. This morning, she died.

We all know someone like Jan from our networking group that dies suddenly--someone from networking, or church, or you knew in school. But we never think that that someone could be us. We hesitate to think that we could die, just like Jan did, when she left for skiing with friends.

There is a saying: plan for the worst and hope for the best. That way, no matter what happens, you are all set. We can help you sort out what that looks like in your particular case. We will listen as you share what you worry about. We will ask how you plan to cover this and that if you weren't around. We aren't betting on your demise--far from it. We want you to go to many many adventures, travelling through with peace of mind.

I am currently working with this estate planning team (Cath Shaw Insure), and I cannot recommend them highly enough. As a dad with young kids and older kids, I always assumed having a will was “good enough.” They walked me through everything with so much clarity and patience that I finally understood why a trust wasn’t just a nice extra—it was exactly what my family needed, especially if the worst happens too soon.

They didn’t use scare tactics or confusing legal jargon. Instead, they explained how a trust protects my kids, avoids unnecessary complications, and gives me real peace of mind. I left our meeting feeling empowered, informed, and honestly relieved.

If you’re a parent—especially with little ones—do yourself a favor and talk Cath and her team about setting up a trust. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for my family, and I’m incredibly grateful for their guidance and support. Highly recommend! -- James David, high-school principal, father

Why should parents with young children do estate planning? Often people talk to friends and assure good wishes and Godparent commitment over a cup of coffee or a beer. That has the feeling and intent in place, but not the finances and the day-in day-out details of an estate plan. The last thing grieving Godparents should have to figure out if the worst happens, is what your exact intentions are and how the finances will work. If you have little ones, with or without Godparents, it is smart to put a plan in place so grieving caretakers and kids have one less stressor on a terrible time.

Call or text our team at 423.521.5877 to begin the conversation. We offer a straightforward and no frills approach, and answer all your questions. We can't wait to get to know you.

Earlier this week, Cath and her team were awarded the #1 spot at the very top of the 200+ producers doing estate planning nationwide with the National Agents Alliance. We do not have any photos though of the award ceremony--Cath had some sort of nasty virus and missed the festivities! She received many texts and phone calls of well wishes though and is back on her feet again, helping families. We are proud to serve Chattanooga and the greater area and look forward to another productive year!
