TEL Tip Tuesday: King Pins

Not all steer axle kingpin play is a problem. Standards have changed and there are acceptable tolerances. The only way to know if yours are actually worn is to measure them with a dial indicator.

🔧 Watch for steer tire cupping and vibration. If a shop says they are bad, ask for the numbers.

Properly greased kingpins can last longer than 600,000 miles. Grease them. Measure them. Do not guess.

💡 TEL Tip Tuesday: Power Inverters

Running high-draw items like a microwave or slow cooker? Keep the truck running — it’s much easier on your batteries.

Low-draw items like a laptop or small fan can run off battery power.

TEL Tip Tuesday 🚛

Let’s talk about DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid).

👉 Keep your DEF level from running too low—low fluid is exposed to more heat, which can cause crystallization and clog your system.

👉 But don’t overfill either—DEF needs room to vent properly.

A little attention here can help you avoid bigger (and more expensive) problems down the road.

TEL Tip Tuesday: Valve Stem Maintenance
Valve stems may be small, but they can cause big problems. Cracked or worn valve stems often lead to slow air leaks, uneven tire wear, and reduced fuel efficiency.

Check valve stems during routine tire inspections to catch issues early and keep your fleet running efficiently.

🚨 Accidentally added DEF to your fuel tank? Don’t panic — but don’t start the engine.
