The held rates steady. That doesn’t mean are coming down.

Three policymakers voted for an immediate hike, Fed Chair offered no path toward lower borrowing costs, and the now expects mortgage rates to remain near 6.5% for the foreseeable future.

The message for LOs: Expect volatility, prepare borrowers for elevated rates, and explain why the Fed doesn’t directly set mortgage rates.
