POW/MIA Missing Man Table Explanation

The table set for one is small and symbolic, honoring our prisoners of war and those missing in action.

The white tablecloth symbolizes the purity of their motives when answering the call to serve.
The single red rose reminds us of the loved ones and families who keep the faith while awaiting answers.
The yellow ribbon tied to the rose represents the continued hope for their return.
The slice of lemon on the bread plate reminds us of their bitter fate and sacrifice.
The salt upon the plate symbolizes the tears shed by families and friends who long for answers.
The inverted glass signifies that the missing and fallen cannot share in this meal with us today.
The empty chair reminds us of their absence.
The candle reflects the light of hope which lives in our hearts for their return and remembrance.
The Bible represents strength gained through faith in God and our nation founded under His guidance.
The black napkin stands for the sorrow of captivity and the loss endured by those who served.

This table is reserved to honor our brave and selfless American service members who are missing from our ranks. They are not forgotten.
