It’s hard to believe we’re coming up on the first anniversary of Memory Cafe at The Center!

This monthly gathering for people living with dementia and their caregivers has quickly become one of our favorite programs to offer.

Dementia can be a horribly isolating experience for the person living with it and for their loved ones.

Memory cafes are unique in providing an opportunity for both the patient and their loved one to have positive social time together. We snack, we sing, we chat with new friends — and no one is bothered by someone repeating themselves, losing their words, or being a little loud.

We’re so grateful to the friends who come and allow us to share in warm, tender, and fun moments at Memory Cafe!

Congratulations to Twice as Nice for raising $100,000 as part of a matching grant to assist seniors in our community! 🎉

🎉 We did it! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised the full $100,000 needed to meet the Mary Morton Parsons Foundation matching grant! 💙

That means your support went twice as far in helping us move forward with our capital campaign. To every donor who helped make this match a reality, thank you!

The more you know about Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Because these programs, and modern medicine, have increased our life spans by decades, we need an expansion to provide for basic healthcare in this country.

What’s the difference between strength training and resistance training?

As far as we’re concerned, it’s just different vocabulary!

Strength is an important goal for healthy aging for many reasons. Daily activities like carrying a bag of groceries benefit from your strength. You can improve your balance and your bone density through strength training. It can even slow cognitive decline!

Whether you call it strength training or resistance training… whether you use free weights or resistance bands like these… we hope you’re caring for your muscles as you grow older!
