Can I ask you a favor?

Think about the people in your life who are on Medicare. A parent. A neighbor. Someone from church. A friend who just retired.

Now think about whether any of them have mentioned struggling to afford weight loss medication. Or been told Medicare doesn’t cover it. Or just quietly given up on asking.

Starting July 1, that might not be true anymore.

Eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries can access Wegovy, Zepbound, or Foundayo for $50 a month through this new CMS program. It runs through December 2027. And most people on Medicare have absolutely no idea it exists.

You might be the reason someone finds out.

Forward this post. Share it on your page. Text it to someone who needs it. I’ll be here to answer questions for anyone you send my way.

July 1 is closer than it feels. Here’s what to do right now so you’re ready when the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge goes live.

Talk to your doctor.

If you think you might qualify, bring this up at your next appointment. Your doctor will need to submit a prior authorization request once the program opens. CMS releases the full prior authorization process in June, so they don’t need to do anything yet. But flagging it now means you’re not scrambling later.

Find your Medicare card.

The pharmacy will need your Medicare Number to process the claim. Know where your card is. If you’ve lost it, you can find your Medicare Number by logging into MyMedicare.gov or calling 1-800-MEDICARE.

Make sure you’re on an eligible plan.

Most standard Part D and Medicare Advantage plans qualify. If you’re not sure whether your specific plan is eligible, reach out to me directly. I can pull up your plan information and confirm in minutes.

DM me the word BRIDGE and I’ll send you the full breakdown. 👇

I want to be upfront about who this program is not for, because this is where a lot of confusion is going to happen.

If you are already getting a GLP-1 medication covered through your Part D plan, you do not qualify for the GLP-1 Bridge. You’re already covered, and that’s actually a good thing.

This specifically includes people whose GLP-1 is being covered because of type 2 diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, or a liver condition called MASH.

If any of those apply to you, your Part D plan is already handling your coverage. The Bridge was built specifically for people who had no coverage path before because they were using these medications purely for weight management.

One more thing worth knowing. Not every Medicare plan type qualifies. Most standard Part D and Medicare Advantage plans do. But there are a handful of specific plan types that are not eligible unless you also carry a standalone Part D plan.

Not sure whether your specific plan qualifies? That is exactly the kind of thing I can help you figure out in about five minutes.

DM me and let’s take a look at your situation together. 👇

Already taking Wegovy, Zepbound, or Foundayo? This one is specifically for you.

One of the most common questions I’m getting is: I’m already on one of these medications. Can I still use the GLP-1 Bridge?

The answer is yes, as long as you’re a Medicare Part D beneficiary and you meet the eligibility criteria.

Here’s the part that matters most.

The clinical criteria are based on where you were when you started the medication, not where you are today. So if you started Wegovy in 2023 with a BMI of 38 and your BMI is now 31, your doctor would confirm that you met the criteria when you started therapy. You would still qualify.

This is genuinely good news for people who have been paying full price for these medications for a long time.

What you need to do right now is talk to your prescribing doctor and give them a heads up that this program is coming. They’ll need to submit a prior authorization request once the program opens July 1. CMS releases the full process in June, so nothing to do on their end just yet.

But the earlier you have that conversation, the smoother July 1 is going to go.

DM me the word BRIDGE and I’ll send you the full breakdown. 👇

Are you currently paying out of pocket for one of these medications?
