Here is one of the first questions an inbound personal auto claims adjuster will ask, when your report your personal auto claim.

"At the time of the accident, were you driving for a rideshare or working as a delivery driver?"

Why are they asking this question?

Before you sign up for rideshare driving, and before an accident occurs, research your personal auto policy to gain clarity on your coverage, as follows:

1) Is there an exclusion for rideshare and delivery?

2) Is the insurance company willing to add an endorsement, to remove the rideshare and delivery exclusion?

3) Will the insurance company cancel you, once they become aware that you are driving for a rideshare?

4) Should you move to another insurance company that offers coverage for ride share and delivery drivers?

These are good questions to discuss with your personal lines agent, before you engage in ridesharing or delivery.
