ABOUT ACC-CHARLOTTE

The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is a global bar association that promotes the common professional and

business interests of in-house counsel who work for corporations, associations and other private-sector organizations through education, information, networking opportunities and advocacy initiatives. The Charlotte Chapter is a rapidly growing organization with over 700 members located in the heart of the dynamic corporate and financial center of North Carolina. We offer our members a wide-variety of events throughout the year, including monthly chapter meetings, firm CLE events, social and networking events, Annual GC/CLO dinner, our Annual Gala Event, Casino Night Fundraiser, Affinity Groups events and Pro Bono events. Ten outstanding local law firms serve as our strategic sponsors, offering top-quality CLE programs which have been approved for 1 hour of CLE credit in North Carolina. As a member, you have the opportunity to participate in a variety of committees which help shape the direction of the chapter. We strive to keep our members well informed through the monthly chapter meetings, email communications and our quarterly newsletter, which includes chapter news, a schedule of upcoming events and recognition of member achievements. The Charlotte Chapter serves in-house counsel not only in the large Charlotte metropolitan area but also the cities of Winston-Salem, Hickory, Asheville, Boone and Fort Mill, South Carolina. For more information on our activities contact Jane Nohr, Charlotte Chapter Executive Director, at 704.999.0814 or [email protected].

We don’t usually do this… but we have just a few seats open for tomorrow evening’s CLE, and it’s a big one. "Bring Lawyers, Guns and Money: How Private Credit is Reshaping Chapter 11 - and Who Gets Burned" will be presented by David Conaway, Partner at Shumaker Loop & Kendrick. Private credit lenders are rewriting the Chapter 11 playbook, and trade creditors are feeling the impact. David will walk us through what’s happening behind the scenes, why it matters, and what in‑house teams should be watching for. Last night was such a meaningful evening of connection, service, and giving back. We were proud to come together with Poyner Spruill LLP in support of Dress for Success Charlotte, an organization that empowers women on their journeys toward economic independence. After a little happy hour and networking, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work organizing hangers, stuffing envelopes, and sorting and organizing clothing and purses that will help women feel confident and prepared for their next opportunity.

Thank you to all the members who joined us and a special thank you to Poyner Spruill for sponsoring this wonderful event! We are grateful for an evening spent doing good with great people and supporting such an important mission.

We had a full July, and one event we’ve been excited to share is our volunteer day with Nourish Up. ACC Charlotte members rolled up their sleeves to sort donations, pack boxes, and prep food for neighbors facing food insecurity. It was simple, hands‑on work that really mattered. Huge thank you to everyone who came out and helped make a real difference for families across the Greater Charlotte area!

Thank you to our members for joining us today at The Hamilton for a delicious lunch and an insightful CLE on the legal risks tied to customer loyalty programs. Suzanne Gainey walked us through how contract law, consumer protections, and privacy requirements intersect with modern loyalty strategies, including the growing role of economic incentives under comprehensive privacy laws. We appreciate Moore & Van Allen PLLC for sponsoring this event and supporting our chapter!

Such a fun night at Dunbar Social. Big thank you to Kilpatrick for making it all happen! We had great food, easy conversation, and lots of fun in the Swing Suite — long drives, Hockey Shots, Baseball Pitching, Zombie Dodgeball… all of it. A great night with even better people - we love this community and being a part of all of the connections! Thanks to all who joined us!
